Hotpoint WD440G Hi
When I start a cycle the washer fills up with water then stops, The on/off button then flashes so does drying high heat, reduce creases and time saver.
resetting it does not help, happens on various cycles not just one.
Any ideas?
thanks

I have had the same problems myself. Had an engineer from Hotpoint out to fix but he said there was no fault registered when he ran a diagnostic test from him laptop. He just said unplug from the mains an it will work. Yes it did for about two washes then it stuck again on a the last spin and ON/OFF and dryer button flashing. I pulled the washer out switched off at mains but sill keeps cutting off. I am sooooo fed up with this I will be contacting Hotpoint again tomorrow. Did you manage to get yours fixed. The washing machine got deliverd yesterday. I have tried to do the "first wash" however the washing machine is giving an error. The machine is pomping water and spins for 5 mins and then stops and two options "drying high heath" and "reduce creases" start flashing. The flashing lights are an error code (Which I can't quite figure, but I believe ARE associated with a blocked filter. Is it possible that the slime and mess extended beyond the filter?
Before you go throwing the machine away, Unplug it from the mains (NOT just turn it off) to allow the machine to reset and while it's unplugged, stuff your garden hose up the waste water pipe and turn it on full blast to blow any remaining debris out of the way. (Wrap a towel over the end of the pipe to soak up the spliiage as one will not fit neatly into the other).
As the Dr Pepper ad says - "What's the worst that could happen?"
Unplug the machine from the wall for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and try it again. If the lights come back, the control board needs to be replaced.
That means that the machine detected a problem at a certain point of the cycle and stopped.
If the machine stops when filling check the inlet valve and the water supply.
If it stops because ofervilling check the water level switch.
If it stops when the cycle is hot water only , then check the heating element.
If it stops when draining, then inspect drain filter, drain pump , and drain hose. You access the drain hose removing a panel at the front side of the machine.
If it stops when motor is supposed to spin faster (rinse) then it is motor control unit or motor coupler.
If it is none of the above, then it is a defective control board.
I have just seen the same problem on a neighbours WD440G. I have
tracked down the problem to the main circuit board at the back, bottom
of the machine. Transistor/FET Q9 has exploded. There was water at the
bottom of the machine and the wiring in the vicinity of the nearby
connector was wet.
This neighbour is in no financial position to be able to buy a new
board, or get an official Hotpoint engineer to confirm what we already
know. Anyone know where I can get a schematic diagram for the board?
For mine, it started flashing the on/off light along with the "drying high heat" and the "reduce crease".
Unplugging the unit for 30 minutes appears to have reset the machine and it is now working.
