This on an Olympus Stylus 7.1 megapixel digital camera purchased less than 2 years ago. I was using the camera and had been taking pictures for approximately 1 hour outdoors. I tried to turn the camera off and the lens would not retract, at which time I received a blue screen with the error code D: 5f08 8234. I tried recharging the battery and that did not solve the problem. I have explored several other postings on this site related to this error code and, as of yet, noone can advise a solution. If you can help, that would be great and I will post a solution for the other bloggers. Thank you.....Courtney
Check the power source, make sure the battery is fully charged.
If you have another battery you can try that other battery and see if the lens is able to extend and retract properly.
Try to reset the camera through the menu. If that does not solve the issue then the camera would need to be sent into Olympus for repair service.
