If the seal fits over the axle shaft it should be ok. be sure your axles are very clean as not to ruin the new seals when applying them. probably a good idea to replace them as a pair (right and left side) to save you time down the road.

Have you adjusted the locking cam for forward. This cam is held in place with one bolt. The further you move it down the tighter it will make the belt

I cannot get my oil seals of my rear tine tiller It is a Troy Bilt 5.5 hp and I got the left side off but the right side tine attachment will not budge any suggestions please

Have you tried soaking the shaft area with either PB Blaster or Deep Creep penetrating oil. Try this for a few days before trying to tackle getting the tine attachment off.

I can't move my Troy-Bilt tiller unless it's running.

Some Troy Bilt Tillers were designed with a manual "free-wheel". If yours is a Tuffy (and maybe a Junior), you have to pull pins out of the wheels to move the tiller without starting it. The larger tillers, Pony's and Horses, had a lever to shift to release the wheels.

My neighbor let us use his troy built tiller and it needs oil but he doesn't know what type of oil to put in the transmition. please help

The recommended lube for a Troy Bilt transmission is 140 Gear Lube. It's tough to find. If you use lighter oil, the trans seals will likely start to leak.

Leaks oil around the tines.

an new oil seal needs to be put onto the output shaft of the transmission.  remove the plug wire if you attempt to pry out the old seal and tap in the new seal.  Be careful not to damage the case and grease the seal and shaft when you replace the oil seal

How to remove rear tines to replace seals ?

The tines sometimes get frozen to the shaft. You might try penatrating oil and use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat to loosen.
Also tap wiht a hammer around shaft.
