It might be worth looking at whatever plans you have. When you unlock your blackberry it still needs a sim card from some provider. When you unlocked and put in your new simcard, you bought some sort pf alternate phone/ Data plan did yopu ask for a mpa of areas that your nwe plan works from? They usually have a map of coverage that will show you if you had coverage in mexico. If not then it has nothing to do with the unlock it has to do with whatever provider you use doesnt servoce the area. Then tyhe answer is to get yuet another sim vcard with another plabn that works there. . Addtionally depending on where your blackberry came fromm it simplymay not puick up the proper frequencies as phones in meixco use,.. I know people who got their unlocked decvice from the middle east or africa or south america and those devices simply don't use the same frquency as the US or Canada does. If your device was orignally from Rogers then if you have no probnlem with getting services to work in the US or canada or even the US virgin islands which Roghrs does cover but at an astoundingly high Calling and Data rate ( like $1.35 Per minute vouice and .35 cents per KB in the carribean .. then it might just be the phones settingts which RIM puits in depending on whare they intend to have the device sold ..they seell worldwqide so if your fivice was designed fo Asia it simnply might not use the bsame frequency as US or candain devices

Check the coverage map of whatever planyou have from whatevber alternate provider your going wiyh ..you had to get another sim cartd to get the devie working. That sim card has to be attched to some sort of data and voice plan. check the coverage and then look into where you bought your blackberry and whre yuour tring to use it from . if it's rogers check and see if the devioce itself wll work in Mexico ..it just might not. Riogeers isn't really interested in making it easy for you to use servoces from far awat. Theres no compitition and as small population. They don;t have to do anything more then possible, I have had a regular cell from Riogersa that worked throughout the carribean..but nbot in othr arteas at all. . I have a blackberry noi but I have another friend who went deeply into brazil and other areas and while devices locally bought( even smart phiones) worked. Devices bought in North America don't work in some countries. It;s like DVD encoding. If you buy a DVD that is coded for the Middle east it won"t play on your DVD thats supposed to be for use in North ameica. Smart phones have some simiolar restrictions locked or unlocked ,

Is my cell phone supposed to roaming, I get messages that saysYOU ARE ROAMING DATA ROAMING; you have losrdata connectivity Theres a smaal letter R at my signal strength,

  • R = roaming as you found out
  • E = Edge, or 2g...its really slow but works in a pinch
  • 3G = 3g...still slow but better than Edge
  • H = HSPA, its a form of 3G just a lot faster...this was considered 4g before true 4g
  • H+ = HSPA+, same as above just faster
  • LTE = 4g LTE. its the fastest of the bunch.
R is for roaming. Maybe your network doesn't allow data on roaming?

No 3G network mode on my blackberry 9700 bold please help me

Look for the manage connections icon on your phone (looks like a small little antenna tower) and click on it - scroll down to Network and connections and click - click on Mobile network - scroll down to nework mode - select 3G & 2G. Some handsets have 3G and 2G separately. Select the 3G in your case.

Enjoy:)

Can i get AT&T Z10 BlackBerry with a SIM card unlocked and use it on Verizon service with a Verizon SIM card

I don't think so....it does not support CDMA.So once you have unlocked you can swap with other GSM providers only. There are many unlock providers like Prounlocking.com to unlock your phone permanently.

I have just purchased a second hand Blackberry Bold 9000. I,ve been trying to set up email, but when i go to the email set up on the Blackberry phone, i am only given one option on my phone and that is to...

You need to register online for BIS or black berry internet service. You also have to have a blackberry data plan for this to work.

go to google and type in black berry email login and then your service provider.

My blackberry bold 9000 was fully charged. the battery ran down very quickly. now when you plug it up to the charger the red light alternates with a picture of a battery with a lightning bolt through it.

Dear user,
The battery problem is always happen with the mobile network selection ,
First you have to select proper network 2G or 3G , better you can keep on 2G
Follow the below instruction , how to change mobile networks,
1 screen menu
2 Option
3 Mobile Network è Network Mode 2G è save
I hope you can’t face this issue again

I have a new BB Bold 9700 and I unlock it, but after few days now I don't get signal any more, what can I do?

This is unlikely to be anything to do with unlocking unless it also reset the phone software to an earlier version.

The Bold 9700 has a known issue with automatic network switching for which there is currently no real fix. The workaround is to go into the settings menu and look up "network". The menu will give you an option to enable automatic or manual network selection; you are recommended to set it to manual selection. There will be codes by each network listed, "X" means unavailable, "3G H" is a high speed HSDPA connection (not really needed unless you use the browser a lot), 3G is a regular 3G network and 2G is the older and slower GPRS/Edge reception. Until the Bold 9700 all BB's made do with 2G and were fine with it, so if all you use the phone for is phone calls, SMS and email then select 2G as it usually has the widest coverage. This workaround does mean that you may need to occasionally re-select to suit your needs.

I'd also recommend that you ensure the phone has the latest operating system updates. Join the free CrackBerry forum and in the Bold 9700 section you'll see a sticky post at the top of the page telling you how to do this.

I cant receive or send emails or BB Instant Messages on my BB

It needs to say "GPRS" or "EDGE" in the top right hand corner in captial letters. If there is lower case letters, this indicates the phone is having an issue with the data connection.

Have you been able to send/receive email whilst in the country you are in now?

Most obvious things first, remove the battery, then re-insert and reboot. This will reboot the phone and create a new connection to the Blackberry server. Let me know how that goes.

Hey..thanks 4 help

3G is a term used to refer to the third-generation mobile network technology. What it means to you in terms of actual benefits is that you are able to access online data services more speedily with a 3G-compatible device (like the Bold) than using a 2G-only device (like the Curve).
