We just installed ATT-uverse & our incoming calls don't work

When we are on the phone & an other call comes in, we receive the beep that tells us someone else is on the line, but it does not display the person's name or the #. Is there anything we can do to our phone to eliminate this problem. We have Model # TRU8885-3 HS 5.8 phone. We did not have this problem until we installed the ATT U-verse system. If there is no way to fix this, is there another model that plays the different songs that this one plays when a calls comes in? We really love this feature on the model that we have now.
Thank you,
Linda Bittove

I have the same problem with a new AT &T Dect 6.0 Cordless Answering System with Caller ID/ Call Waiting Model SL82318. I have an old Uniden TRU/448-2 Series that works fine. How can I get the AT & T Phone System to work?

I have the same issue with incoming call not displaying (call waiting). Contacted ATT Unverse customer service and was advise this is a technical issue at their end and no resolution before year end. I was not a happy camper to learn this and was not informed up front when service was installed.

I think you just need to turn the CIDCW on through the "Global Menu" The following is from the user's manual for the TRU8885.

Setting CIDCW (Caller ID on Call Waiting)
CIDCW sets the Caller ID on Call Waiting (CIDCW) displays the name and number of
an incoming call while you are on the line. Call Waiting Deluxe (CWDX) allows you
to handle call waiting calls in seven different ways.
1) Enter the Global Setup menu, and then the CIDCW
submenu (see "Entering the Menu" on page 16).
2) Press volume up/down to select CW On/CWD X O n, C W
On/CWD X O ff, or CW O ff/CW DX Off, and then press the
OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone.

I just finished a long online chat with Tier 2 tech support at AT&T and was told that intermittent beeps on phone calls with U-Verse are caused by the modem. All the new modems interpret certain female voices in such a way as to send out DTMF tones (?). If this is a known problem and has been known since at least 2009 (based on customer comments I've seen), why weren't new customers informed? Is this basis for legal action?

Yes, I just got the say answer... ATT has a known (they are very aware of it) problem with intermittent caller ID malfunction. There is no know solution as of March 1. 2010. I have a business at home and I REALLY need to know which calls are important and which are not. I demanded a reimbersement of the value of the feature from when we start uverse and continuing until the figure it out.... and they gave it to me but it's only $5 per month. The greif I get from my wife about this issue is worth about 100 times that amount. I wonder if I can get a different provider for the "phone" part of the package that uverse offers. We like ATTUv and all the cool online controls and viewing... but this problem is very disappointing.

I was also told that they are different than the regular AT&T... I'm not sure what the other ones do but they cross each other a a lot. I even had a problem where the other ATT cut the lines to my house (while was fixing someone elses) and ATTU came out and fixed it... weird?

How do I program an AT&T u-verse remote to an ONKYO RC-866M remote

The RC-866M is the remote. What you need to do is add the codes for your Onkyo receiver into the ATT remote. There are 4 or 5 different Uverse remotes, but most can be reprogrammed by pressing the 'Menu' and 'OK' button together. First add your Onkyo codes to the ATT remote as an 'aux' device. After that is working, you can control the power and volume by adding the 'aux' device (Onkyo) to the power and volume buttons on the uverse remote.

These are all the different Onkyo Receiver codes:
Onkyo: 5002, 5018, 5073, 5074, 5075, 5076, 5077, 5078, 5079, 5080, 5081, 5082, 5084, 5085, 5086, 5087, 5130, 5131, 5140

This is how to reprogram the S10 style of Uverse remote:

ATT JUST INSTALLED UVERSE. PHONES WILL NOT RING AND ANSWERING MACHINE DOES NOT RECORD LEFT MESSAGES

The best thing to do is to call them back and have them send someone over. sounds like it was not setup the right way. They should have made sure eveything works before they left.

I have the same question for my AT&T CL83212 cordless phone. I set the time, but when a call comes in the time reverts to 3 hours back - Pacific Time. We are Eastern Time. I called AT&T &
was send a new Uverse modem (???) - that did nothing. I am ready to return the phone.

Ethernet (wired) connection to computer works but "wireless" light does not come on and my laptop cannot locate a wireless access point or network device. It has worked in the past but after...

You will need to get a hold of att. They will need to have you unplug the 2wire and then reconnect. They will need to reset the gateway from their end. good Luck.

I have ATT UVerse internet and now I can't use Outlook Express. How do I fix this?

Here are the instructions on how to fix your issue.

http://www.ehow.com/how_6075140_configure-outlook-express-at_amp_t-uverse.html

Open Microsoft Outlook Express and click the "Tools" menu item. Select "Accounts" from the list of menu items. In the window that opens, click the "Add" button and select "Mail." This starts the mail configuration wizard that helps step you through the process.

Enter your full name in the first text box. This is the name displayed when users receive your email. In the next text box, enter your AT&T Uverse email address. Click the "Next" button.Select "POP3" from the incoming mail protocol drop-down box. Enter "pop.att.yahoo.com" in the text box labeled "Incoming Mail Server." In the outgoing mail server text box, enter "smtp.att.yahoo.com." Click the "Next" button.

Enter your AT&T Uverse login name and password. Check the box labeled "Remember Password." Click the "Next" button again.

Click the "Finish" button at the summary screen. The mail creation wizard closes. Click the "Send and Receive" button to retrieve any current emails in your Uverse account.

Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light stays on since VoIP

There maybe different MWI options available in the phone's set up menu on the base unit. If so, see if the different options perform differently. Your phones are probably set to "FSK" (frequency shift keying) for MWI but IIRC, U-Verse uses the "Stutter" option. Also, in addition to talking to the installer, call ATT tech support. If the problem is in the signalling they may now have programming options on their end to resolve it.

How to set up uverse home network with 2wire gateway

To use AT&T Uverse for a home network, you need to get the AT&T "Homeview" Network Management software. AT&T provided this software in the past freely.

This software must be run on each PC on your home network, and then each PC can see the others. You then use go to My Computer, select each disk drive you want to share, right-click and select Sharing and Security, and select to share the drive. Then go on the drive to the folders you want to share and right-click and set them to be shared. Then the Homeview system will show these are shared folders. You can also share printers on the same network using the Homeview software.
