Question about HP LaserJet 1020 Printer

1 Answer

Toner is not cleaning off the drum and faint images is being left

During print the image is not properly cleaned from the drum and a faint image is printed under the newer darker image on the page. I tried cleaning the inside of the printer. Is the voltage not high enough to clean the drum properly?

Samsung CLX-3175FN printer only prints VERY faint image. Just replaced all toners with genuine Samsung. Never had this problem. All contacts look clean???

Faint prints with Laser Printer usually occurs when the drum is full with the wasted ink (toner power) or when the Fuser Unit is not working correctly. First of all try cleaning the Drum and remove the wasted toner power. There should be an opening on one of the end of the drum. In some cases, it needs to be disassembled to remove the wasted inks.
Also remove the fuser unit and clean the unit. Please handle it with care and never clean it when it's hot/warm. Only do this, after the printer is left turned off for about half an hour.
If nothing is helpful, try with another/new drum or fuser, that will help you get to find out the exact cause of the problem.
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Printed copies have ghost images on them. I have never had this problem before., It looks like the image printed twice - once fine and then faint horizontal lines, sometimes some of the previously printed...

1) try doing a full clean from within the menu on the printer, or within the computer software
2) You need to perform a half test. Put a sheet of paper on the manual feeder and do a config page from the information menu on the printer. When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing. Now remove the toner cartridge and look at the image below. If the defect is present, then the toner cartridge is the problem 99% of the time. There is a slight possibility that during the conditioning stage of the print process the drum of the toner is not being fully discharged so when the next stage takes places part of the previous image gets put on the toner cartridge again. Very rare. If the defect is not present then the fuser has an issue.

My printer canon ir 2022 prints faints and blank pages, what can be a problem and how to fix it?

Hello,
first You must check, if the image is on the drum. To do these, start print and when you hear that paper is in drum section open the left door and look at the drum surface for the toner image on it.
i.e.
If the image is on it and it looks solid, check the transfer roller or replace him. Also clean the laser unit ( lenses and polygon mirror ) and change the drum unit. It can also be the problem with toner station.
i.e. the cylinder doesn't turns or the there isn't toner on cylinder.

It can be a bunch of things, so without seeing the machine it is difficult to say what is the problem... but, in most cases, the problem is in dirty laser unit or in transfer roller.

Our Laser printer doesn't print on the left had side of the paper--well, very faint--the right side is just fine. I just replaced the cartridge. What is the problem?

If your printer prints like this:
657b300.jpg with the any color printing faintly down the page, then the problem is with the developer blades in the imaging unit. What happens is there are metal blades that meter the amount of toner that gets put on to the drum that makes the image on the paper. The toner is made up of fine particules of plastic. As the printer prints, some of this toner collects on the edge of the developer blades causing less and less toner to make it onto the page making the print look faint.

To correct this problem, you either need to buy a new imaging unit or clean the developer blades. There is a document on the internet that gives a detail instructions on how to do this, but, the link no longer works. I have a copy of this document, I will try to post it if people are interested.

Faint area down left side of page

When you say "Cleaned the lens" I presume you mean the four LED print heads. Use a spirit to clean them with if the toner dust is hard to remove. I usually just use a finger and wipe the entire length. Make sure there is no foreign item laying on the drum top where the black plastic film is as the led head may not seat properly on it. Clean all the silver high voltage springs down the left side of the printer. They make contact with the drums. If you still have a problem then try printing solid colour blocks ie Yellow, Magenta ,Cyan and Black . This will identify which colour is giving the problem . Change that drum and all should be well.

HI, I have a clp-300 and it is printing black only on the right side, but the left is completely washed out. it works fine when I use a color other than black

If you the image is faded and your toner supply is good, the problem is the developer blades in the imaging unit. During the normal use of the printer, there is a buildup of toner that sticks on the developer blade. The developer blade meters the amount of toner that gets to the drum that ultimately makes it to the paper. As the toner buildup increases on the blade, less and less toner that gets to the drum cause the image to fade.

To fix this problem you will need to disassemble the imaging unit and clean the blades or buy a new imaging unit. I have clean my blades and I have a document to show you if you are handy.

Color problem!

If you the image is faded and your toner supply is good, the problem is the developer blades in the imaging unit. It sounds like the magenta blade needs to be cleaned. As the toner buildup increases on the blade, less and less toner that gets to the drum cause the image to fade.
