Learn Sign Language or look around for the lost sound, it may be under the TV stand. Seriously, Ed, Sound or AUDIO is a separate section from the VIDEO. The Video can operate just fine and Audio can burn out or Vise Verse.

You have to install the sound card drivers to listen audio in the computer. You can find the necessary sound card drivers for your computer in the motherboard CD provided at the time of purchase. If you find any difficulty in installing the sound card drivers please let us know. Thank you for contacting Fixya.
1. Did the sound ever work?
HARDWARE:
2. If so, then the short cable that is connected from the TV card to your computer sound card came loose.
3. If it has never worked, then you need an audio cable to connect the TV Audio OUT to your Sound card audio IN.
SOFTWARE:
4. If it has worked and the cables are ok, then the "Audio IN" mute box is checked. Double-click the "speaker" icon on the lower-right of your desktop. UNcheck any of the audio mute boxes.
It should work now. If you need clarification, please reply.
Hope this helps!
Is the driver installed properly try that if that is already done perhaps there is a special program it requires rare but not unheard of if you have a disc with the card see if it has a audio program with it.
Have you physically disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS? By doing this I think most of your other hardware/software would default to the only audio device (your SB).
Post back if you've already done this and I'll see what else I can dig up on your hardware and possible conflicts.
I know it's been a while since you posted this, but perhaps this can help someone else. Check your cable box. I have Time Warner Cable with an HD-DVR. There is an option in the audio setup menu that will switch the audio from composite/digital to HDMI. I found this as I tested composite cables to fix a video issue with my TV, but lost audio when I switched back. Merely a setting issue. Hope this helps.
