Ice maker funnell freezing

The plastic line that connects to the ice maker rubber FILL tube is what came off. Check inside the freezer and squeeze the end of the rubber tube at the back of the ice maker. I would bet it is frozen with ice. (Hand held hiar dryer for quite a while to defrost the tube FYI and do NOT melt the plactic of the ice maker water funnel.) What causes the tube to freeze is the inlet water valve starts bypassing water when it is supposed to shut off. The result of this bypassed water is a frozen rubber tube and the plactic tube on the back of the refirgerator blows off or leaks. This inlet water valve is NOT repairable.

The Fix... Replace the inlet water valve and make sure the rubber ice maker fill tube is defrosted BEFORE re-inserting the plastic tube back into the rubber fill tube. It just pushes in and the adhesive pads for holding the plastic line in place are not critical even if they are lost. The rubber fill tube fitting will retain the plastic hose just fine as long as the ice maker end of the tube is not frozen from a leaking inlet water valve.

I just cleared a blockage in ours using about 6 drinking straws all attached together ( squeeze end and push about 30mm inside the next one) a small funnel insulation taped to the end and pushed right down the hole until it stops. Then pour hot water into the funnel until it clears. Remember to keep the funnel as high as possible and the hot water being poured in will push any cold water back up the tube, melt the ice and clear the blockage.

Yes. But LG came out with a new frame for the funnel. So you have to order the funnel and the frame which is installed through your front control panel. Good Luck I just did it.

Remove contents of fridge and check the drain line running down the top back of the back of fridge and follow to lower section of fridge (usually a back ledge or under the crisper sections) and locate a small round drain hole. Also, check to see that the drain collector (funnel looking thing at top back of fridge section) is located under the freezer defrost drain opening, to allow water to flow through the fridge into the drain pan under the fridge.

If something has obstructed the drain funnel, path, tube, or lower drain hole, remove the blockage to allow water to drain into underneath of fridge into drain pan for proper evaporation of water produced from the usual daily defrost cycle of fridge/freezer.

If that is not the problem, it could be that you have a leaking water supply line for your ice maker and you'll need to see if the freezer is allowing excessive water to flow out of the ice maker into the fridge section.

Another simple check/solution is that the fridge is not properly leveled, meaning that the front of the fridge should be slightly higher than the rear to allow for proper drainage and self closing of the front doors. This will help keep the water flowing in the built in channels and drains.

A perfectly level fridge isn't the right way to install most moveable refridgerators, while built in fridges (Sub Zero, etc.) are designed for plumb and level installations for proper functioning and use.

its possible that ice is jamed in the ice crusher compartment this happens to me as well the ice drops down to fast causing it to clog and then stays open until it all of a sudden you pick it up on the floor thanks from gilles

If the water line inside the freezer is clogged with ice so water can't get to the ice maker then the water valve needs to be replaced.

This is one valve with two solenoids, one for the water in the door and one for the ice maker. Replace this valve.

hi thanks for the question did you remove the funnel shaped piece cause thats where it builds up remove thst piece an clean thanks the appliance doc

check the distance on the fill tube and the funnel if this is fine look and see if there is ice blocking the hole in the fill funnel and also look into the fill tube for ice let me know what you find
