Tv reads, "Check # 1 Fan" and the first two lights are lit. Where is the fan located and what is the check procedure?
SOURCE: Samsung HL-S5087W (" CHECK FAN # 1") is displayed
hello Harley,
Lamp # 1 is lamp fan, Lamp # 2 is DMD board fan.
Lamp # 1 is located behind the lamp.
Pull assy angine out you will fine fan # 2 , clean it or replace it if not rotate properly.
Fans displayed on screen because fans are dirty or air flow not smoothly.
Good luck.
Testimonial: "THANKS "
SOURCE: fan
One is in front of DMD board, 1 in front of lamp and 1 on top of ballast. Which one isn't turning. Take back off and push up on blue switch; Hold it there... Turn on and don't touch anything else. One of the fan's isn't turning. Probably large fan by lamp. Cost $45, easy to fix yourself

There is a slight possibility that fan #1 is still good. I would still investigate it though. If the heat is not controlled, more damage could be done. I'm not sure which fan is #1. I think on the PCB of the TV would have some kinda of marking that would say FAN 1, FAN 2, etc.
SOURCE: message on my tv reads check fan 1..
check fan 1 means the fan is not cooling, check to variety the fan is indeed working, the unit is shutting down due to over temp. if there is a filter, clean it
