Replace fan blade e77491 - Kirby Generation 3 Bagged Upright Vacuum

I do not know of any screws that would be stripped right at the fan. Here is a walk through on removing and replacing the fan, the shaft needs to be turned counter clockwise.

Probably either bearings in the roller brush, a damaged fan blade, or the bearings in the motor. Take the roller brush off completely, and run the VAC without it. If it's much more silent, then the problem is with the bearings in the roller brush. If it's still noisy, then look closely at the fan that produces the suction, if you can. If you see any damaged blades, then you'll have to replace it. If it seems fine, then it's most likely bearings in the main motor that will have to be replaced. The bearings and the fan blade are NOT expensive parts, but the labor at a shop to change the main bearings would be kinda pricey.

Make sure ALL the air passageways are not blocked with any hair, dust balls or other material. If they are ALL clear, then it's probably the fan blade that creates the suction is damaged, maybe a blade or two are broken. It is cheap to buy a new fan blade, but taking the machine apart and replacing the blade would be moderately expensive for a repairman. Maybe you can try to do that yourself. If not, always ask for a complete estimate for the repair, and have it written out on paper before you agree to the work.

Your local Lowes or Home Depot sells blades in the lighting/ceiling fan department.

The problem with your unit is the fan. The engine behind the blades have gotten spoilt hence its inability to roll the blades. Usually when the engine of a fan is spoilt as a result of the coil the engine still tries to move but due to the bad coil the engine hums but does not come to a start. The fan is meant to be the main component which regulates the temperature of the unit if the fan does not cool the unit then the unit will overheat and go off. Simplest solution is to extract the entire fan plus its engine and get ? replacement for it. If you have the required expertise to open and reassemble the unit you can do this yourself otherwise get an expert to carry it out for you. Hope this solution has been helpful?

I resolved the problem .I found a way to hold the armature shaft still while I unscrewed the pulley drive nut ,which must be removed in order to remove the vacuum fan.

> There probably is a special tool somewhere that would fit over the armature ( the metal part that spins on the shaft of the motor inside the stature) to hold it still ,but since it was suspiciously omitted from the rest of the fan blade parts ,I had to fabricate one myself.

>I happen to have three ,steel blade ,broad paint scrappers which were about 2 to 3 inches wide and thin enough so there blades fitted nicely into the groves that run the length of the armature without damaging it, as would be the case with a narrower screw driver blade .

>Bracing the handles of the 3 scrapper blades in a slot that was in the side of the case ,which was probaby its' intented purpose, held the armature shaft still while I unscrewed the fan nut which happened to have a reverse thread.( turns clockwise to loosen) .
