Hi
I have a Bosch Tassimo machine, it has been in daily use for around 7months now and then it has started leaking water out from underneath this is casued it to trip the rcd out, I cant find my receipt so dont think I can get it repaired under warranty, I want to know if anyone out there nows how to dismantle it so I can repair it my self.
Any help at all would be appreciated
Before you attempt to dismantle the Bosch Tassimo, you need to determine how/where it is leaking.
(1) Before making a drink with the unit remove the cup tray and ensure the bottom where it fits is dry. Replace the drink tray
(2) Make a drink or use the cleaning disk, put a cup under as normal and start the cycle.
(3) After the drink is made or a clean cycle remove the bottom cup tray and see if the bottom where it fits is wet.
If it's wet you have two (2) problems
(1) The pressure valve on the top of the heater is staying open, usually due to using water that has lots of calcium in it.
(2) The pipe that leads from this pipe to the bottom tray is leaking (it's not a good fit in any of these machines, and causes water to drip from underneath.
Don't take it apart yet! Buy some de-scaler from AP-Wagner.com and run this a few times, it should clear it. If it doesn't you have no choice but to open the thing.
If you have the model with a filter use it and change it when it tells you. If you don't have a built in filter, don't use water directly from the tap, run water through a Brita filter or similar
If the bottom tray doesn't get wet, take it apart to see where it's leaking. 99.99999999999999% of the time it the valve.
So how to take the thing apart.
(1) The sides (silver or black) slide to the rear. However, you have to put something in the back between the side and the rear cover to pry them apart while pushing to the rear. It's very difficult. I use a 6" steel ruler. You have to bend the sides to overcome the catches that hold them in place. You'll see a small rectangular slot at the back of each side. They will come off eventually.
(2) Once off you'll have to remove the lid where you put the disc in. Remove the 4 screws under the lid deck.
(3) Remove the water pipe screws (2) and the bar code scanner screws (2). Be careful of the barcode scanner the cable is very, very delicate (I always unplug it from the circuit board and remove it completely, lift the black tabs at either side of the cable). Lift of the lid assembly.
(3a) Remove the screw from the underneath the unit at the back, this allows the front to move out.
(4) At each corner of the top carefully pry the locking mechanisms until the top is free. Remove the pink (thick) pipe and the pink (thin) pipe and turn the top around out of the way of the heater unit. A coiled steel spring will drop out, it's easy to replace when the top is back on.
(5) Where the thin pink pipe goes to is a back pressure release valve carefully pry the clips apart and remove. Take out the rubber O-ring and the valve. Carefully remove any calcified deposits from under the rubber (blue) valve.
(6) Reassemble valve
(7) Reassemble top, and lid taking care with the bar code reader.
(8) Test before replacing the sides
The thick pink pipe that descends from the top, that you removed earlier goes to the bottom tray, you will notice it is very loose (they all are) and it leaks. Put a tie wrap around it to seal it.
Good luck, it's not an easy fix, they were never meant to be taken apart to be repaired - not very ECO friendly. Let your MP/Congressman know, these should end up in a landfill because of 50 cent valve, and they don't come apart.
the above dismantling method works. we did the same thing. needed to put the water hose back and then we glued it. nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww our problem is the barcode scanner. oh yes very delicate. our scanner has come off on the inside. where does it hook back up on the circuit board???!!!! helpppppppppppppppppp
The delicate flex cable from the barcode scanner inserts into the topmost connector on the front panel circuit board. The metal side of the flex faces outwards (towards you) as you install it. There is a small, brown latch which needs to be gently nudged away from the board with your fingernails, then the flex goes in, then the latch needs to be nudged firmly towards the board on both sides of the flex. The flex must stay straight in the connector while closing the latch. Note that the latch should be nudged open BEFORE removing the flex, to prevent damaging it.
Thank you, david_bax439, the cleaning you described did indeed fix the leaking pressure relief valve. I found the top is quite hard to remove. Besides the 4 snaps that can be seen from the side, there also appears to be a snap at the center, back, and also an aggressive snap near the area at the top of the front panel circuit board. I could not see that last snap at first without moving the board from its position.
I'm thrilled, though, that cleaning the pressure relief valve fixed the leaking. It was getting tiresome to have water on the kitchen counter every time we brewed a drink. Thanks for your short but complete instructions.
Unfortunatley I already took my tassimo apart before seeing this and have broken the cable from the barcode scanner, anyone know if I solder it back together will it work? Or is there anything else I can do?
Amazing fixed mine that valve is very poor like others have commented most people would scrap the machine. thanks so much for sharing this on the internet
mine was leaking at the bottom, I descaled I replaced another part in the tank, that did not fix it.
I then took the sides off and put the T disc in and ran it the leak was on a section that is not readily accessible so I'm scrapping it. Ive had it for 5 years so I guess I got my moneys worth.

Followed David's instructions and it worked! Had a hard time getting the sides and top off. You will likely break some of the locking plastic tabs on the sides, top and on the valve. Attaching some pictures of the process. Number 10 Torx (Star) screwdriver required.
Great photos
Helped a lot
I used superglue to fix the pice instead of tape
Thanks
The guys spot on!! True, not an easy fix, but it did the job!! Mmmm, coffee-------
Tis is a great guide. Thanks alot. I had a very hard time getting the sides off. You really need to left both ends (front and back) top or bottom first and then push. I went nuclear on mine so it does not look so nice now, but it works.
The problem with my machine was not inside, but in the lid Water pipe - it was totalt blocked. Getting it cleaned and I had a working tassimo again. I found out after opening everything else and nothing seems to be wrong inside the machine, it looked great inside.
Just found this post on how to take apart and possible causes, mine is very clean and dry inside so hoping it is clogged top valve so running some strong solution des calmer through it hoping that will clear it. Reporting back once I have run the solution a few times
I have run the descaler almost neat through several times and the leak or the run from the over flow pipe has become less and less till it has stopped. Seems to have done the trick. I will run alternate descale and clean programs for a while longer as I am getting some dark bits coming out occasionally. I will leave it and flush later this evening and hope to have a coffee later. Thanks for all your comments above which I have followed and it's worked. Just hope I can get the side panel on again without any damage, wish I had listened to the first bit if advice.
