We bought an Ellies Slimline TV remote to use on our Hisense TV. We use our DSTV remote to change channels but needed the universal remote in order to access our "Source" section of our TV, which allows us to select AV for dvds or DMP to watch movies via our USB port on the TV. The universal remote gets us to the "Source" section but the arrow buttons and "OK" button don't work.
Check it with an another setup code.

Program the remote with the code/codes provided by the remotes manufacturer until you find the one that gives you the functions that you desire, or you could look for the OEM remote from the manufacturer of the TV or on an auction site.
A lot of times the universals won't perform all the functions that the original one does.

I wish someone would bring a suit against any of these manufacturers using the term 'universal.'
At best, they are 'multibrand' and, with the proliferation of 'brands,' there never will be one that can rightfully claim to be 'universal.'
There may never be a code for your brand available in every remote.

Usually universal remotes have a auto select option, Check for the remote code online, go to gogle and search for universal remote codes

Depending on the specific remote, some buttons may not work with all systems. HOWEVER, in many cases the things you thing the "select button" would do, are done by the "play button" instead (IE: That's how I have to select DVD menu options with my remote).
If that is not the case with you, you can try a different programing code.
