When plugged up, the display of the Weider Platinum Crossbow lights up, but none of the parts will move. It is frozen in place; locked up so that we cannot use it. We have no directions to read to try to solve the problem. Can you help?
I have the manual, to recalibrate the machine press and hold the next button and the motorized wieght adjustment+ button for five seconds. when the buttons are released, a number will appear in the reps display. press the next button again, then press the motorized weight adjustment+ button: this should start the reclaibration process. i am lucky i bought the machine in 10-2004 and it has a ten year warrenty. it isn't working it happened before and they had to replace the motor. if it works remembe to unplug the machine when not in use. it is a great machine to get in shape with. you just have to use it.
In the directions it states that you have to Press a button combination to get the machine to preset and calibrate itself. I'm pretty sure I had a similar problem when I bought mine about 7 or 8 yrs ago... The cables aren't locked up... But you can't change the resistance at all?.. I believe you have to press and hold the Next key and either the motorized Weight adjustment up or down button Or the rep up or down button at the same time for about 3 seconds.. Meaning press the next button And one of the + or - keys and hold them in till you hear a beep and see the display flash... When that happens Press the + or- key one more time and then the machine will run through it's calibration..
You'll Know it's doing it because the machine will run itself And you'll see the adjustment cable move all the way to one side.. and then all the way back to where it started.... Once it does that I believe you hit the next key and the led will cut off.. Then hit the next key to turn it back on, thenit will display correctly and you'll be able to use all of it's available Keys and functions... It actually stated the calibration method wrong.. The way they said to do it didn't work... Just try pressing the next button and any of the other key simultaniously till it acts like it's gonna do something.... Meaning the display flashes or has a bunch of ----- displayed. Then hit one of the + or - keys and you'll see it working. It won't start the calibration till one of the other buttons are pushed. I just can't remember which one....and you can after the the beep press them one by one with out going through the simultanious thing again till you hear and see it start running all by it's self.
Try what I said with just a little patience till something happens on the led that seems different. then just push one of the other buttons... you'll know it's the right one.because like I said it will just star running on it own till the it's done calibrating.
I had the same problem: Console worked fine, but the machine wouldn't calibrate, wouldn't change resistance, and was stuck. I read a possible solution, having to do with a cut orange wire. This is totally correct. The orange wire, part of a group of wires located in the upper right (as you are looking from back to front), was cut. Unfortunately, you have to take the thing nearly totally apart to get to the wire. After gaining access to the group of wires located in the upper right elbow of the machine, I spliced the wire back together. Also, just as important, the machine is plugged into the console tower via a circuit clip located in the middle back of the machine. You also have to ensure the wiring group coming from the console to the back, is taped up with electrical tape, as there is no protection around the wires, and they protrude through a hole in the console tower, which has sharp edges. Once I examined all the wires and made the necessary tape repairs and splicing, I put the machine back together, and it works fine now.

I have the same problem, the resistance numbers change but nothing happens.
I tried resetting the machine by holding the next button and the resistance buttons for 3 seconds.....no results.
Anyone got any other solutions.
Thanks
