SOUNDS LIKE THE PROBLEM I HAD, BUT WAS JUST A SEIZED-UP BEARING. I WENT TO LOCAL ELECTRIC MOTOR REPAIR ($15.74) PARTS AND LABOR, THEY REPLACED THE BEARING, THERE ARE 2 BEARINGS ON IT, COST IS THE SAME FOR EACH. THE BEARING IS PRESSED ON, SO REPLACEABLE. HOPE THIS HELPED
I have a RM871 that I bought for my Craftsman Tablesaw. I installed it but because Sears builds some of their tablesaw housings out of plastic, it cracked beyond repair when it was used on a job. I trashed the tablesaw and kept the motor. It barely got used! Let me know if you are interested in buying it. Thanks. Doug

We live in a throw away world. Do the same thing I am going to do with my craftsmen table saw model 137.248830. Toss it in a dumpster and by a new one. Mine has a burned out bearing in the motor. New motor is 129.00.
Hello, I need the main plastic housing for a 10" table saw 147.248830.
If someone has this housing, that is all I need. Everything else works fine, just the housing is cracked and brittle. Thanks.
