Wirelless Lan card says its disconnected but it isn't
I have tried unistalling the device and reinstalling it. That didn't work, among other things, it randomly turns off by itself, the Fn and F keys don't seem to work. So now what??

As in a SD card or similar device? You didn't give me much to work with. Your machine is? the card is? etc. That said, If the machine is older it may not read a over 2GB card without a update on the hardware. If the device, card reader, isn't in service due to a driver issue it will not work. What is the media on the card? Will the card read in another machine? Is the card "Locked"? etc, etc, etc.
Hi, There isn't enough details, but: Please unplug the battery (remember to disconnect the charger), then, hold on the power button for a minute, after that, connect the charger, and try to power on the laptop.
If it didn't work, you need to visit the technician
If it worked, disconnect the charger and connect the battery If it worked, things are going well. If not, the battery have problem.
- check if you have a link light on the NIC port - also check if there is a network adapter driver installed under device manager - then click start type run and type cmd - under CMD, type ipconfig and check if you have a valid IP ex. 192.168.1.1 not valid is the IP that start with 169
First check if its a drivers issue.. Unistall the drivers and reinstall the latest drivers from the support website of tashiba... Then try to take the WLAN and reinsert it.. Try to get all the wireless networks again and try to connect.. If the issue is not fixed you may have to replace the WLAN card....
After reinstalling your xp, the next thing to do is install the drivers of your motherboard. the drivers include lan card and sound card drivers. The lan card needs to work so you can explore the internet.. while the sound card needs to work so there will be sounds on your speaker.
If you don't have the drivers,, I can help you get one just tell me the model of your motherboard. and or sound card and lan card..
Hope this help. Much appreciated if you could rate this help. thanks
So your Cable Ethernet works, but your WiFi doesn't? OR?
Anyway go to device manager an uninstall the LAN/WiFi, whichever one isn't working, but not BOTH, and remove connection & reboot, at next boot, if OK it will find drivers and reinstall. If it cannot find drivers you will need to download them from ACER,and install & reboot.
I just posted this same problem myself last night. I found another tip and tried it and it solve my problem.
1. Go to MY Computer properties by rt clicking on the icon
2. Go to Hardware tab and look for your Sound(click the + sign)
3. Right click only the sound device that is a problem and click "remove or unistall". Leave all the codecs or other things you see in there.
4. Close everything and Reboot
5. Windows XP will recognize "found new hardware" and installs the drivers automatically if it is still in the system, if not you have to reinstall from your recovery disks.
6. Reboot again (that's how I got my sound back)
Using another pc, download the driver for the model of LAN card used. Goto the control panel - system - device manager and unistall the card (keep hardware attached to pc) and reboot. Use the downloaded driver to reuninstall. When it gets back online, do the same thing with any other device not working. Be sure to get the drive for the operating system used.
Use a different PCI slot and reinstall the drivers for your LAN card. If this does not fix the problem there may be a compatibility issue between the network card and some other software (eg. irq conflict etc.), or the LAn card may be slightly faulty and have problems on some motherboard. In this case you can try troubleshooting the problem. If you cannot find out the problem at a glance, checking in device properties, you may be forced to reinstall Windows. In this case I suggest to just replace the part. The Ethernet (LAN) pci card is quite an inexpensive part, and you can still use this one on a different computer.
