Starting problem The car does not start periodically. The crank sensor was replaced 1 month ago. After the sensor was replaced, the mechanic pointed out that there was a "security" feature on the car - when starting the car, wait for the car icon to appear on the dash, otherwise the car considers it an attempt to steal it. Each time the car has not started, the icon did not appear. I have tried changing the keys and taking it to the dealer (who could not find any error codes). When the car did not start, coincidentally it was raining or had been in the previous 12-24 hours.

SOURCE: After a short run ignition is lost on restart.

Your ignition module is out since it's hard to re-start right after engine has warmed up. This module is located inside the distributor and two screws hold it on. A very easy fix.

Check your battery terminals. Take the cables off you battery and clean with a mild solution of baking soda and water. Also check the ground cable and make sure it is attached securely. I had a truck that did the same thing and it was a corrosion problem.

No fire/spark at the plugs? Not really sure where your going. If you have spark and fuel, then you have to look at mechanical. Timing and a compression check are the first.

1996 jeep grand Cherokee will turn over but not start. weak spark. fuel at fuel rail. replaced PCM 1 month ago. replaced crank shaft sensor 3 months ago....

See if your getting spark at the ign. coil first (passengers side on that year) if you are change the crank shaft sensor making sure you mount it as close to the engine as possible so it never gives you trouble again.

2000 Dodge Stratus SE stalling and not restarting

Sounds like a broken wire probably close to where the computer is. I would inspect the harness here and then under and around the power distribution module (fuse and relay box under the hood) This can be removed for closer inspection of the contacts underneath.

Check all sensor connections especially the crank

Pull the MAP sensor plug connector out and try to start the car, if it starts and runs rough and then wont when the map is plugged in then replace it and you are a go.
I think this is your problem or fuel pump or the fuel pump wire is corroded typically where it connects to the harness and then goes into the body.
This is somewhere to start at least.

I had a problem like yours on my 96 towncar and after literally months of replacing the wrong parts.
I bought a crank shaft sensor and crawled under the car to try and install it. Looking at how oily it appeared I unplugged the wires from it and cleaned both the wire plug and the sensor with some electrical contact cleaner available at most auto parts stores , and that was over a year ago and the problem has not returned since then. The sensor is located on the passenger side just behind the harmonic balancer under the front end of the motor. If yours is oily it would be worth a try.
Hope this helps.

could be a falling cam sensor or O2 sensor, O2 sensors don't like being cold as it takes longer to heat up and ecu reads it as a fault. cam sensor these fail more when they get hot. dirty MAF/MAP sensor can also affect the engine.

Sounds like a condensor or breaker point problem. When it just starts backfiring while running it is certainly ignition related. Most of the time condensors are the culprit but it can be an ignition module or distributor breaker points / sensor (if so installed.) Should not be to hard to sort out. I know most Vette owners are long ago or soon to be mechanics :)

My 2000 Eldorado ETC, 88K suddenly has stopped running. Oil and fuel are OK. It has started for a short period of time, and suddenly quits. Headlights work, radio does not...battery is OK... ....grateful...

Take it to a mechanic. This has happened to me on two separate occasions due to different malfunctionings. My first encounterance with this problem ( shutting down while driving), turned out to be a malfunctioning crank sensor in the engine. The problem was"fixed" after I took it to a mechanic and replaced that. Btw, it took them a long time to figure out that was the problem. A Few years later to about 2 months ago, my car had the same problem again. Only this time, the problem was with the fuel injection system. So I ended up having to replace the whole fuel pump assembly at the dealership, which was quite costly.

So, take it to a mechanic to pinpoint the problem. It can be a several number os things.
