This problem just started last night during the NCAA tournament. I turned it off and when I came back a little bit later to watch the game I used the remote to turn it on like usual and the front green light went on and automatically went red and turned off itself...no picture....just a blank dark screen....what could this be???? Help!!!
I have a new Samsung 50", and replaced my older 42". The hook up is the same, with the same satellite connection, but with a new, different power battery back up. The TV operates fine for about 20- 30 minutes, then the satellite goes down, and then a few minutes automatically comes back on. This continues to happen throughout the day. What is happening and what can I do to correct the problem? Thanks
Back again. It appears that the key is the order in which you connect things and switch the TV on or off. It took some experimenting to get to what's reliable. I'll spare you the details and confine myself to what works.
1. Start with the monitor cable disconnected at the laptop.
2. Turn on the TV with the source set to your regular satellite (or cable) signal.
3. With the laptop on, plug the monitor cable into it.
4. Switch the source (at the TV) to receive the VGA signal (from the laptop).
Voila!
To turn off, reverse the procedure.

I have a similar problem. Last night (26 Mar 09) we were trying to watch the NCAA tournament from my laptop hooked up to our MAG MA-32EF1AC. While we were trying to get a signal from the laptop to the TV screen, the screen went off -- but the blue "on" light stayed on. Nor could we turn it off with the remote -- or even with the button on/off button on the TV screen itself. We unplugged the screen and plugged it back in, getting the red "standby" light back. We were able to get the TV to turn back on, but continued to have the same problem with its turning black (but with the blue light on) for want of a signal from the laptop.
We gave up and watched the game on the laptop. This morning (for reasons that remain mysterious) we were able to get the laptop and TV to work together, and were able to switch between the signal from the satellite and that from the laptop. But when we turned off the TV screen, we found ourselves stuck again: using the remote, we got the red standby light to switch to the blue "on" light -- but the screen remained black: not so much as even the MAG logo appears.
Que bizarre!
my tv isn't connected to a laptop....it's just the tv....when turned on, it automatically turns off. We took the panel off the back of the tv and tried to turn it on...there was a flash of light, so does that mean it's not a bulb problem, but something else....help please????
