My eagle cuda 300 shuts off for no reason

The unit runs fine for about an hour and then the screen goes blank. I hold the power button and it will come back on for a few seconds then the screen goes blank again.

SOURCE: Have a Cuda 300 It shows 62 ft on water or land.

The transducer for the unit might have junked out, or else you have a floor model that is programed for that depth. lol

99% of the time when i power unit up, it gets stuck on 54.8 feet

After testing everything out, I went out and bought the new Eagle Cuda 300 model. I hooked that up and made sure it worked, then tried the Cuda 242 unit on the new transducer. That did it, it worked fine. The problem was a bad transducer. Might have been that -30 deg weather last winter, I'm taking that off the boat this winter. Transducer cost about $50-$60, new Cuda 300 cost about $80.

Cuda 300

Marine electronics should never be powered through an ignition switch. A sudden drop in voltage will cause it to shut off. If your boat is powered by a four stroke outboard it probably is not generating enough current to meet the demands of the engine and the electronics. Four stroke outboards generally have to run at high rpms to generate enough current to charge the battery. Old or poorly maintained batteries could also contribute to your problem.
