ZyXEL IES-1000 with AAM1212 ADSL 12 port module step-by-step guid

I have IES-1000 with 1 AAM1212 ADSL 12 port module.  I have directly connected first port of TELCO cable into a user CPE ADSL router. Also, I have a cisco 1721 router connected to Ethernet 2 of AAM1212 module and 1 WIC-1ADSL just connected to Internet. On the Cisco Fastethernet I have configured 12 sub interface each one with rispectively VLAN tag (port 1 DSLAM => VLAN 11, ecc,).
Now I would simply a step-by-step guide to configure AAM1212 to permit my every CPE to navigate on ADSL enabled on cisco router.

Going through the GUI would take too long, so use CLI to add the commands below. After that, check the GUI and see how those changes appear.

VLANs:
On all equipment use 802.1q tagging. The example below puts adsl ports 1 to 10 in vlan10 and ports 11-12 in vlan2. These vlans are 802.1q tagged on the ethernet ports.

switch vlan set 1 1~12:X enet1~enet2:FT DEFAULT
switch vlan set 2 1~10:X 11~12:FU enet1~enet2:FT VLAN2
switch vlan set 10 1~10:FU 11~12:X enet1~enet2:FT VLAN10
switch vlan set 17 1~12:X enet1~enet2:FT VLAN17
switch vlan pvid 1~10 10
switch vlan pvid 11~12 2
switch vlan pvid enet1~enet2 1
switch vlan priority * 0
switch vlan gvrp * disable
switch vlan frametype * all
switch vlan cpu set 1

ATM circuit:
Each port requires one or more VPI/VCI circuit. You could map different circuits to corresponding vlans. The config below creates a primary circuit 1/35 on each port. On ports 5 and 9 is another circuit 1/32 mapped to vlan10

adsl pvc set * 1 35 super DEFVAL
adsl pvc set 5,9 1 32 10 0 DEFVAL

Remember a dslam is just a switch, bridging packets from a VC onto a VLAN or straight onto ethernet.

I have a Zyxel P-660r-d1 modem and I connect to it with my ps3. But I currently have a NAT type 3, and I have some problems connecting with friends online. How do I change it to NAT type 2?

i will repost my guide for opening nat and firewall on a zyxel ...
it will help for sure ...

you can't just say nat is now OPEN :)
let's say you have a pc with IP of 192.168.1.33
you are running a emule (hehe) on that PC
you want to use port 12345 for your emule
this is what you need to do:
1. go to webinterface of your router (usually http://192.168.1.1)
2. go to menu network/nat/port forwarding
3.go to service->user define
4. in new window click "active", name it emule, start port 12345, end port 12345, server ip 192.168.1.33
5. click ok, apply, whatever and go to menu security/firewall/rules
6. choose packet direction wan to wan/router
7. click on ADD
8.change following fields: destination address - change to single addressand change 0.0.0.0 to 192.168.1.33 and click on add, then close to itsays ANY, mark it and click on remove
9. on same page under services click on edit customized services
10. choose number 1 or 5 or whatever :)
11. service name: emule rule, service type TCP/UDP, type single, port 12345
12. click on apply
13. go to menu maintenance/tools/restart
14.just in case restart the box and your zyxel is now accepting incomingconnections on port 12345 and forwarding them to 192.168.1.33 (your pc)...

i hope i helped

cheers

Do you have a zyxel series p600, 660R-D1 dsl modem user manual? I have one and have a range of kbps of 3050 to 240 kblps. I thought I would read and see what to expect, Earthlink and the phone company...

The user manual or user guide of the 660R-D1 is available on the zyxel.com site, if you go into the following path:
Support and downloads --> download library ---> up at the right hand side top you see a drop down menu with list of products, choose 660R Compact series. This brings you to the download page and you can choose out
Model :
P-660R-D1
Version : 3.40
Language : English
OS : N/A
Release Date : 07-14-2006
Size : 7 MB

Citating the part from the manual that I think is important (see down at the bottom of this post the speeds, and the note that it may be influenced by your ISP standard. Ask your ISP what they use.):

1.1

The ZyXEL Device is an ADSL2+ gateway that allows super-fast internet access over analog (POTS) or digital (ISDN) telephone lines (depending on your model).
In the ZyXEL Device product name, "R" denotes an integrated router and "D" denotes a chip set standard.
Your ZyXEL Device product name ends with a number. Models ending in "1", for example P660R-D1, a denote a device that works over the analog telephone system, POTS (plain old telephone service). Models ending in "3" denote a device that works over ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network). Models ending in "7" denote a device that works over T-ISDN (UR-2)

1.2

The DSL RJ-11 (ADSL over POTS models) or RJ-45 (ADSL over ISDN models) connects to your ADSL-enabled telephone line. The ZyXEL Device is compatible with the ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ standards. Maximum data rates attainable for each standard are shown in the next table:

ADSL:
Up: 832 kbps Down: 8Mbps
ADSL2:
Up: 3,5Mpbs Down: 12Mpbs
ADSL2+:
Up: 3,5Mbps Down: 24Mbps

Note: if your ZyXEL Device does not support Annex M, the max ADSL2/2+ upstream data rate is 1,2Mbps.
ZyXEL Devices which work over ISDN do not support Annex M. The standard your ISP supports determines the maximum upstream and downstream speeds attainable. Actual speeds attained also depend on the distance from your ISP, line quality etc.

Please let me know if the above answered your question:)

I have a ZyXEL P-660HW-TI ADSL wireless router used as the gateway and wireless AP (also the wired ports are used for LAN). It has no VoIP ports. I do have a 2nd ADSL router (not used: no wireless, 1 LAN...

No because the VOIP need to be loged in first. if you have the voip first then the wireless router and you turned off the router dchp section part of the wireless modem then perhaps it will work, plus you need a voip account.

Port forwarding

well to start, your connection would possibly be ADSL and your zyxel is set to provide DHCP address on your network, so its router capabilities could be turned on.

if this is true, you may need to rework the connection settings.

here's a recommendation:

1.set your modem to bridge mode (bridge only)
2.this will then be allowing your linksys to manage your DSL connection through PPPoE
3.after so, your linksys router should get a public IP address for an internet IP when you go to status tab (not an IP address starting with 192.168.1.xx)

after so, you may reconfigure your port-forwarding.

the reason why you will need to set your modem to "bridged" only is that if it is not, your zyxel's firewall is also turned on, provided that the linksys' firewall is always on. so even if you define which port will be opened on the router, it will still be blocked by the modem's firewall.

Setting up linksys adsl2 modem

The ADSL, Ethernet, and USB ports are located at the back of a Linksys modem. These ports are where the phone cable and computer will be connected. The ADSL Line should be connected to the ADSL port and the computer either be connected to Ethernet or the USB port., If u r using a ethernet cable no need to run the setup cd just connect the ethernet cable and contact ur isp..
do not worry about ur sagem modem, let it be inside.. just connect ethernet cables alone..

To setup a Linksys ADSL Modem with usb cable you need to perform two steps:
  1. Connecting the Devices Together
  2. Installing the USB Driver
Connecting the Devices Together
Step 1:
Connect the phone cable to the wall jack with ADSL service and then connect the other end to the ADSL port of the modem.
Step 2:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 3:
Connect the USB to the USB port on the back of the modem and then connect the other end top the USB port of the computer.
Step 4:
Power on the modem. After connecting the device together, install the USB driver. For instructions, follow the steps below.
Installing the USB Driver
Step 1:
Power on the computer.
Step 2:
When the Hardware Update Wizard window appears. Click Install the software automatically (Recommended).
NOTE: Windows XP has pre-installed drivers for the ADSL2MUE and will automatically install the USB driver for the modem.
Step 3:
Click Finish.
