You have the remote box? Most functions, clock/date set, channel add/delete and so on are done with the remote, and cannot be so done with the limited buttons on the VCR itself. Early VCRS (pre-90s) were setup with these VCR located buttons.

If you go into the menu you should see clock setting,there will be manual or auto,set to auto and the clock will set its self,even if the vcr is turned off.
I have the Zenith xbv613 model DVD/VCR player and also need to change the clock set up. For the xbv613 I had to switch the player to VCR. The menu button did not bring the clock set up in DVD. When I switched to VCR and hit the menu button the clock set up showed, where I used to right arrow button to change the time. Hope this helps.

Press < or > to select the "CLOCK SET" option, then press ENTER. 4. Press < or > to set the month, then press ENTER. note: To make corrections any time during the process Press CANCEL repeatedly until the item you want to change blinks, then press< or >. 5. Set the day, year and time as in step 4. 6. After setting the clock, date and time starts functioning automatically.
you know it would be easier to help you if we knew what Toshiba vcr it is. it is usually easy to set clocks now. you push menu or setup on the vcr remote and there s usually a option to set the clock. only thing i can tell you right now is look here and type in yoru modle number on the vcr and see if ther eis a oweners manual on the site.
