Was watching several hours. Screen went black and static noise. TV then shut down and Red indicator light came on for a few seconds. Tried resetting and turning back on. Then unplugging and turning back on. It sounds like it is powering up but then shuts back down. Only green power light comes on (no red).

Same problem with model WD-Y57 (14month old). Can't find any dealer that sales the part at a better price then mitsupart.com
SOURCE: I have Mitsubishi WD-62525. Last
that is a common problem with that model you will need the v26 power pwb repair kit and the V26 FMT pwb repair kit. You can get both kits at the following link which includes the replacement capacitors and instructions on where the capacitors are located. Heres the link.

Hi, if power indicator/ green light does lite or blink then it is problem with power supply section.
Depending on actual model number most of these sets have a self check.
When green light goes out: On front of set press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both.
Power light will blink a two digit error code like: 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat several times and if that does not work then you have to apply the solution below....
Solution...
The repair procedure to replace the four (apparently inadequate) either 1000uF/25 volt or 1000uF/35 volt capacitors in the "DM module" (one of the two onboard microprocessors).
It is recommended to install either 1000uF/25 volt or 1000uF/35 volt capacitors as replacements, so that they will be more than ample to handle any voltage spikes that will occur.

Is there audio and is when was the last time a welcome screen came on (in other words, are you even getting that anymore)? I have the same TV but I only get the Mitsubishi Splash Screen only comes on when the TV powers off so I'm a little confused by that. Also how bad were the vents and filters when you cleaned them out and how is the ventilation behind the set? Have you checked the lamp? That's a two year-old set, now so I'm kind of leaning on you needing a new lamp. I had to have mine replaced last summer. You're supposed to get 4,000 - 6,000 hours out of them but depending on your environmental conditions, that lifespan can be dramatically reduced as dust buildup and poor ventilation will cause it to overheat the lamp and normally before it's going to go bad, the TV knows this and starts getting hinky as you described (will come on but then shut-off, etc.). In my case between the wife and three kids and the dad (me) who only gets to watch his shows on the DVR after all the kids are asleep, our set is on 8 - 11 hours a day and longer when I watch the kids at home two days a week so I easily blew through the lamp lifespan in 18 months.
You should check the lamp. Refer to your manual, but it's only two screws in the lower right of the back of the TV, Use rubber gloves as well. If it is the lamp go to Mitsubishi's website and order them. They're OEM and only $100 and cheaper than any of the after-market ones. Also Mitsubishi warranties them and if you need it immediately, you can call them to place the order and just pay an extra $50 for overnight delivery. I've had to do this my TV and my in-laws and I've been very satisfied with the Mitsubishi customer service.
Let me know how it turns out.
