2001 Sony KV-36FV27 chassis AA-2U -- pic started looking dark several months ago. Some channels way too fuzzy. Then some channels had greenish tint and some had pink tint that can't be adjusted out. NO channel looked good. (2 other TVs in house--one blurry--the other, 14 years old, pic blurry and sometimes was squashed to middle of screen)
Within days after broadcasters went all digital, Sony pic got much worse and lost sound on 2 channels. checked error codes--

1) (101: WDT 0). Turned off for 5 hours, Did a hard reset. No difference but light stopped blinking.
Didn't have cable box. Husband went to get a digital cable box. Within 1/2 hour, BEFORE we installed box, suddenly pic got MUCH better--and so did 2 other TVs--clear, good color, good brightness. Sony still not quite right--darkish and difficult to adjust to semi normal colors but much much better. (Have to wonder if cable co didn't bump up signal?) Installed box. Sony looked clear, slightly dark, good color and sound was back on 2 channels. The other TVs (NOT on cable box) looked clear, GREAT color. This lasted all night.
Next morning, Sony was too dark, every channel had a green or pink tint--worsened during the day. Old TV has green or pink tint, too and pic is starting to look squashed again.
Obviously, the Sony has some problem--but it can't be a coincidence that all 3 tv improved drastically at the same time and then all 3 looked bad the next morning???
I'm not concerned with the 2 old TVs. What about the Sony? Research gave me that

all 3 video ic outputs on CRT board #TDA6111Q
probably need to be replaced. (Whatever that means). What about the CRT itself? Am I looking at repairs costing more than a new TV?
Thank you!

Hi!
Five blinks means - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
Please rate this solution as FixYa if found useful.
Thanks
Rylee
SOURCE: 9 blinks, won't turn ON, but I can make it turn on with diagnostic
I'm suprised with nine blimks the set will turn on at all. You are in the service menu; be careful, you can render the set totally unusable if you change something. Try unplugging the set for a few minutes and plug back in.
