I have a Yamaha receiver, with inputs from cable TV, and a DVD player via HDMI.The only output is to my TV via HDMI, and to the speakers.The receiver is connected to in ceiling mounted Niles speakers (Front Left, Front Right, Center, Surround Back Left and Surround Back Right, and an Energy sub-woofer).My problem is that when I have the receiver set on a 5.1 surround sound mode, the sound to the Front Left and Front Right speakers sometimes cuts out, with sound only coming out of the Center speaker.It appears to cut out when there is a change of sound, and then it generally stays cut out.If I have the receiver set on 2 or 7 channel stereo, the sound comes out of the speakers consistently and never cuts out.When it cuts out if I flick back to stereo and then back to 5.1 again, it sometimes corrects itself, until the next time it cuts out.Some sound sources seem to be more problematic than others.Sometimes it behaves for a quite a while, and sometimes it cuts out quickly, and sometimes it appears to cut out when there is a change of sound.I know its either something to do with the Receiver or the speakers because I have disconnected all HDMI cables….. this means the only input is from my cable TV unit, and the only output is to the speakers, and the problem still occurs.I don’t think there is an issue with the receiver because I have trailed a replacement receiver from my store and the problem still occurs.Therefore I assume there must be a problem either with the speaker cabling, the speakers, or the way the receiver interacts with the speakers.The baffling element is that there is absolutely never any problem in stereo mode (over months of operation), only when using a 5.1 surround sound mode.
HI, Yes you are right man, this problem occurs only with the cable problem, i can explain you, if there is a receiver problem means you won't get the sound its dam sure, only if there is a cable problem you will get some noise or sound cut off with the speakers, so you please check the cables properly it will be alright.

To set up your home theater system with the equipment you mentioned, follow these steps:
Connect the Onkyo receiver to the NEC TV using an HDMI cable. Make sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to the correct input for the Onkyo receiver.
Connect the Panasonic DVD player to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
Connect the Firestick Lite to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.

connection I describe all the possible cabling alternatives to you..You
can select whichever you want.. TO WATCH DVD ON THE TV: ** Receiver's "AUDIO and VIDEO OUTPUT as " 2xRCA Audio+1x Video " or "Optic Cable OUTPUT or " HDMI Output " of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary cables on your hand ) **
AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio+ Video input s " as can either be : 3xRCA jacks or
"Optic cable input " or HDMI IN connector of your TV , ** than just switch to
DVD mode on Receiver and play DVD *You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio.. TO LISTEN YOUR TV ON SURROUND SYS. **
AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : 2xRCA jacks or

There you go..Both Tv and DVD sound are on the Receiver as SURROUNDING SOUND.By this means ,whatever you watch on the TV will come thru your Receiver's SURROUNDING SOUND speakers as well.

Hi,here is my simple solution... To listen your TV on your samsung ps wx30 surround sound system ,
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or "HDMI out " of your TV unit ** to "AUX input "
or "TV" OR "Any input" of your dvd player or "Optic Cable input" or "HDMI input" ** than just switch to
respective mode on dvd player corresponding your RCA or Optic connection or HDMI .. . There you go..Your TV sound is on the dvd player By this means whatever you watch on the TV (tuner, satellite , Xbox , etc..) ,it's sound will come thru your dvd player.

There are three ways subject to what your DVD player and receiver can support.
1. Connect the stereo output of the player using a pair of analogue interconnects. The outputs are usually color coded red and white (for left and right). Simply plug in the interconnect and connect the other ends to a matching pair of inputs on the Receiver.
Then make sure you select the correct input on the Receiver for the sound to come through.
2. The second method is to take advantage of surround sound audio (Dolby 5.1 for example) on the DVD. You will of course need a surround sound speaker system connected to your Receiver to take advantage of this.
You'll need 'either' an Optical or Coaxial cable. These are both single cables that carry the digital audio form the player to the Receiver. Check your manual to see which ones your equipment has. Alternatively look on the back of the DVD player, the digital output is usually marked quite clearly. Obtain a suitable cable, and plug into the DVD player and the other end into the Receiver. Again make sure select the correct input on the Receiver.
You 'may' need to go in to the menu settings of the DVD player in order to tell it to output the digital signal.
3. HDMI - If you DVD player, Receiver AND TV all have HDMI connections then this is by far the easiest. You'll need 2 HDMI cables. The first one goes from the DVD player into the Receiver, the second goes from the Receiver to the TV. Again make sure you select the correct HDMI input on the Receiver and the correct HDMI input on the TV and that should get you going!

Easy solution; this is a very common problem. Connect Cable or satellite box / DVR directly to one of the TV HDMI inputs. Connect an optical audio cable from that box to receiver so sound is surround through your speakers. You cannot connect DVR directly to receiver because the anti pirating chip will shut off the picture and produce a green or no screen at all.
You can, however, connect a BD (Blu-Ray) player via HDMI cable directly to your receiver without that problem. Connect HDMI output from receiver to a second HDMI input on the LG.

Does the Yamaha have HDMI inputs? Usually you would connect the directv and dvd player via individual HDMI cables to the Yamaha (input)and then the Yamaha (output) to your TV also via HDMI.
BD and DVR hooked up to the receiver and from the receiver to the TV right? If yes: Your receiver set to pass sound trough to the TV, if you want sound from the home theater setting has to be changed.
Make sure that the DVD player is connected into the correct inputs on the receiver and that the receiver also has the correct input selected to play. If your TV also has component video inputs it is best to connect the player directly to the TV. Otherwise, make sure you have the TV connected to the receiver via component video out.
its not how there connected its in your settings. rehook up all your speaker connections properly,then make sure you proram the reciever to recieve fiber optic,hdmi,digital coax etc in the reciver.
I my self don't have that exact unit, but most are similar, and i have looked up the specifications which are:
Inputs:
1 x S-video input 1 x Composite Video Inputs 1 x Digital Audio (TOSLINK) Input 1 x Stereo Audio Input
Outputs:

If so you don't need to connect it. If you do, connect your DVD play via an s-video input, since a normal DVD player doesn't need a higher quality/resolution input.
2) Connect your cable box to the home theater system via a composite cable (the one with Red green blue), if it has composite outputs ofcourse. If not, do it visa versa with the DVD, if your dvd has composite. So make the dvd via composite and cable box via s-video.
3) Audio from the dvd, this would be via Digital Audio (TOSLINK) Input or stereo audio input. the digial audio will give you true 5.1 surround sound, and the stereo will only give you left and right channels, like you would hear from anything else (like a normal cd, radio, etc).
4) audio from cable box, would be again depending what you want. If you cable provider gives you alot of programming that has 5.1 surround sound (mostly HD channels), you would be better off with the digital audio. But if you watch more via your DVD, then connect the cable box via the stereo input. Again, this is to your preference, and which one you want true 5.1 surround sound from. The system should be able to 'emulate' 5.1 surround sound via the stereo cable too, but if your watching a movie, it can't really tell if a sound is supposed to come from the left rear or the left front.
Output: 5)connect to tv via HDMI if available, or S-video.
HDMI is much higher resolution (HD quality) S-video is normal cable programing or 'dvd quality'.
And the Tv would be left on mute or volume=0 since no audio is connected to the tv! All the audio should now come from your system.
