Fuse diagram 1996 grand prix

I need to know where the fuse is for the vent, defroster and a/c control switch is specifically. the control won't change, as it is stuck on defroster/ floor mode. the a/c works, but only in the mode it is stuck on. a diagram of the fuse box would help, unless the fuse is located someplace else other than on the fuse box at the passenger side of the dash board.

On a 1996 model you probably have vac actuators that control air flow. Look under the dash and you may be able to see the actuator that controls flow to the defrost and vents. There would be another one for temp control.

SOURCE: There is no air flow

You need part GM Part number 89018675 or ACDelco 15-73596. The Mode Selector Actuator. What happens is the part is a CHEAP part POORLY designed and when it goes to turn the flaps inside the HVAC unit its the plastic gear slips instead of turning the flap!!!

Just to forward you you might want a deal to install this art for you unless your good at fixing your own vehicle, because you need SMALL sockets and a lot of patience to get this part in!!!

The part is ALMOST directly above the steering shaft for your steering wheel, so theres a lot you got to remove before you will even see them!!!

I only recommend you to have a dealer put this part in for you, unless you have your own service manual!!

Because there is 5 of these darn things and if you pick the wrong one you will have to do it all over again!!!

3 on the Drivers side and 2 on the Passengers side!!

But replacing this part SHOULD solve all your problems!! AS it did for me and i was having the same issues as you have described!!

SOURCE: Need to locate fuse box

its probably on the end of the dash where the driver side door butts up to it.  Otherwise under the driver side dash or in the glove box.

SOURCE: a/c vents door control not working

Can you hear anything moving in heater when you move the switch to other settings? If not then the blend door is not moving to redirect air flow. There is three things that could cause this, 1 the control switch is bad or 2 the blend door acturator is bad, and 3 linkage for the door has come unhooked or broke, most likely its #1 or #2. First you need to find the blend door acturator and test light the wires to it, there should be 3, 1 hot with key on 2 only hot with switch moved, and 3 ground. If you got power from wires than the acturator motor is bad, if no power switch is bad.

SOURCE: Vent control

You have a vacuum leak.Defrost is the default postion(no vacuum).
See if you can locate the small black vacuum line that goes inside the vehicle on the passenger side near the heater core. The trace it back, should see it going to a canister then to the intake manifold.Make sure it is not disconnected or broken somewhere.

1997 grand prix window won't work

Do you need a new motor

How would someone know that?

You need a wiring diagram or at least
match up the cut wires, solder & heat shrink them

Then diagnose the motor,switches,etc

I buy factory wiring diagrams for all my vehicles
I never approach the vehicle without them
One quick check of what does work, then into
the wiring manual

You can not repair something you know nothing about,
need reference material

Deforest system in 1997 grand prix needs to be fix

If you are referring to your rear window defroster not working when you press the button, you either have a blown fuse or are missing the fuse entirely.
Check your manual (sec 6 I believe): The fuse panel for your problem is located behind the glove box. You need to remove the front case but just pulling the handle to expose the fuses. The fuse is the same fuse that controls your heated seating, your hvac, rear defroster, and automatic lights. Let me know if this is the problem you where having and if this helps.. I just fixed this on my 97 Grand Prix SE 3 days ago!!!
