Try resetting your router

SOURCE: Unable to detect my router

This is because your router is setting your pc at a different IP address than your original modem. Make sure router is set to enable DHCP which gives out an automatic ip address and check your wireless card and network cards are set to obtain ip address automatically. It may take a few re-starts to get on the internet as your systems will need to clear their previous DNS settings. Also i assume you have set up the home network wizard (XP) as you are now using a router and not a direct modem. Also try Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.

i'm afraid, but correct me if i'm wrong but the voyager 210 is not a wireless router, it only has a wired capability. You will need to purchase a wireless router to be able to connect with the wireless adapter ypu have purchased.

SOURCE: Wireless connection problem whenever I switch on my laptop

you need to isolate first which of the devices is giving you the problem.
- check first the connection from your modem by connecting a computer directly to it. check if you'll loose the connection from the modem. if so, you need to check with your internet provider if they're having maintenance from time to time since that could be the reason why the router is not providing the connection to your laptop automatically and you need to restart it to sync with the modem first.
- if you have a proper/stable connection directly from the modem, next thing to check is the connection from the router. check if your wired computers are getting the same problem. if so, you may need to check for loose/faulty cables or you may need to upgrade the firmware of your router. if the wired computers are not getting the same problem, it's time to check the wireless settings of the router.
* access the router's page by typing http://192.168.0.1 on your web browser's address bar (default username is "admin" while the default password is "password")
* go to the wireless settings page and check if the wireless name (ssid) is not the default. if it's still using the default ssid, customized it to prevent interference from other dlink network near your area
- if you have check the modem and the router, it's now time to check the wireless adapter, make sure that it is connected to your own network. if you are using it's software utility, make sure that you have created a profile using the same ssid as of your router. you can also update the driver of your wireless card if you have checked the above mentioned and you're still having the same problem
you can also try to use another wireless computer and check if it'll experience the same problem to properly isolate the if it's the router or the wireless adapter problem. you can also try to install the wireless card to another computer and check if you'll have a stable conection. if so, there could be a software (like a firewall or an antivirus software) that is giving you the problem.

hope this'll help you and just ask me if you have other concern.

ciao!

SOURCE: D-Link Air DWL 520 802.11b Wireless Adapter problem

On the computer with the USB wireless card. Uninstall the wireless adapter program and use only the driver so that you can connect with the Windows wireless configuration utility. Then restart the computer and see if you are able to see the signal now. if not create a profile put in the SSID of your network and connect

M15x gaming laptop screen wont come on after sleep mode or reboot. What can I do?

Looking at your last comment, it looks like you got it working??? Just an heads up, in the future, you might not want to put your laptop into sleep/standy mode while performing an update. If you lose power or have to do a hard shutdown you could corrupt the update and your PC might not boot back up.

I have a Dell desktop and a Dell Laptop Inspiron E1705 both run Windows XP Home. My internet connection is Comcast cable. The Desktop runs of the comcast modem and for the laptop I have a comcast router...

Dell laptop will have a dell wireless application that will be controlling the wireless adaptor.
You can open that from Start - Programs (or all programs) - Dell - Dell wireless utility (or in some case intel proset utility). open that and you can use it to connect to your wireless network or you can disable it and allow windows to manage the wireless adapter.

If you have any issues in doing the same please reply to this post.

Thank you for contacting Fixya.

I changed from bellsouth to comcast as my internet provider - the comcast tech disconnected my router, saying I didn't need one. Now my tivo can't connect to my computer - I need to reinstall and...

actually, he did so because they don't "support" anyone else's equipment. once he verified your connection with them that way, he left. an easy solution would be to reconnect your router back into your system just like it was before. reboot everything, and everything should work just like before, including tivo.

My US Robotics USR8054 Wireless Modem stopped working

DHCP may not be working on the router. What IP address does the router give your computers? It should be a 192.168.123.xxx address as default. If you are not getting an IP, then you will have to set a static IP in the range above to connect to the router setup webpage and reenable DHCP.

Can't connect with my router

This can often be an issue with security encryption. There may be a wrong key entered or the client adaptor does not support the encryption used.
To try and solve this first change the SSID on your wireless router (get access http://192.168.0.1 user=admin pass= blank (no pass) (default)) so your laptop will be forced to create a new profile. Then set security to basic WEP 64bit and try to connect again.

Update the wireless adaptors drivers.
If you have any third party Firewalls, try and temporarily disable them to make sure they aren't blocking it.

Arimex comcast router won't talk to belkin wireless g plus mimo router

Comcast has a little known "trick" that they use when setting up users. Here's how it works:

When Comcast first comes to setup your new cable modem service, they insist on connecting it to your computer and "testing" it. Most people think nothing of it, and that it's good customer service ...truth be told, what they are doing is attaching your computer's MAC address to that cable modem, so that you cannot create a wireless network. This is because they want you to pay them $150 to do this for you.

In this situation, since the modem is a modem/wireless router in one, my guess is that the MAC address on your machine now does not match the MAC address on the new router, which is what Comcast has stored in their database(s).

Try this: on your computer (while connected to the modem), perform a release on your IP address (start, run, cmd, then type "ipconfig /release"). Disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer. Turn computer off completely. Hold down the reset button on the cable modem until it performs a reset. Once it's back up and running, boot up your computer with the cable back in the ethernet port.

The cable modem should assign a new address to your computer. However, that may or may not work ...this is an easy workaround with a Linksys router, but not necessarily with the all-in-one devices.

Worst case scenario: contact Comcast and notify them that the new modem is not recognizing your computer's MAC address and that it needs to be updated in their system. They will scan your computer (through the telnet interface on your modem) and get your computer's MAC address, then (hopefully) make the necessary changes on their end.

After that, everything should work flawlessly. If not, insist on a Comcast tech to "fix" the service that you are paying for.

Good luck - hope this helps :)

Lap top not connecting to signial

Yes you can reconnect your router. Whoever did that at Comcast had no business doing that and should be reported and return their equipment back to Comcast asap. It could appear on the bill.

I have a Linksys modem on my Comcast router and it works fine. I don't let them touch it because it uses T-Zones at home service for phone use and it uses a special router to manage it since it has a sim card to run the phone line.

Vonage equipment can be used as well.

I wonder if they were trying to put their phone service onto your system?
