I cant sync or charge my 1st gen ipod nano

When i plug my ipod nano into a wall charger it charges and everything iswell. The problem is i cannot sync or charge my ipod from any computers. The computers dont even recognize the ipod being connected into the USB port. I've tried using a different ipod wire( the wire that connects from your ipod into the computer ) and i still haven't been able to get it to work. Nothing has worked for me and answers would be GREATLY appreciated. If you don't have a solution it's ok. After i try this ill try an Apple Store. Also can someone tell me if they can fix stuff like this at an Apple Store.

Dude just reset the nano ipod. To reset: Slide the Hold switch to HOLD and back again. Then press the Menu and Center buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears. Happy Syncing =)

I have an ipod model a1199. i was wondering if you can use a newer ipod touch charger for it? and if not what kind of charger does it use?

Charge an iPod Nano Without a Charger
If you've misplaced or broken the charger that came with your iPod Nano, you might think you need to purchase a new one in order to continue using your Mp3 player.
However, there is a way that you can continue enjoying your iPod without having to purchase a new charger.
As long as you have a USB cord and a computer, you can charge your iPod without having the charger.

Locate the USB cord that came with your iPod Nano package.
It is the same cord that you use in order to sync or transfer music.
Plug the small end into your iPod Nano.

Plug the other, larger end into your computer's USB port.
Choose "Do Nothing" when your computer presents the dialogue box to let you choose what to do with the hardware or USB connection.
Leave your Nano plugged into your computer for at least 4 hours to charge.
Unplug your iPod Nano when charging is complete.
Charge an iPod Without the Charger
Many iPod owners purchase a charging unit that plugs into a standard wall outlet to recharge the iPod's battery.
However, the iPod wall charger is not included with new purchases, so consumers must either purchase a separate charger or find a way to charge their iPod using other means.
Here's a simple method to charge your iPod using your computer.

Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod.
Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer.

Open the iTunes program by clicking on the icon in the Dock on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC.
Click on the name of your iPod under the "Devices" heading in the main iTunes window.
Click on the "Sync" button to synchronize your iPod with your computer data.
While the iPod is syncing, the power from the USB port on your computer will charge your iPod's battery.

Unplug your iPod from the computer once the battery is fully charged.

This one should be ok.

How can I use JVC AVX810 with Iphone? Currently IPOD works fine with the USB cable but IPHONE is not recognised. Maybe there is an adaptor that can solve it?

JVC KS-PD100 iPod Interface Adapter (257KSPD100, sold separately). This optional iPod Interface Adapter supports audio playback for the following iPod models - iPod click-wheel (3rd gen), iPod photo (4th gen), iPod mini (1st/2nd gen), iPod nano (1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), iPod video (5th gen), and iPod classic (80/120/160GB). The KS-PD100 is not compatible with the iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd gen), iPod nano (5th gen), or iPhone (2G/3G/3GS). This iPod interface will also not charge the iPod nano (4th generation). *Apple firmware updates may change functionality results.

There u go.....

I have ipod nano 1st gen and my ipod wont detect by itunes even my explorer using USB 2.0, i have firewire port wall charger when i try to plug it it charge but idont know if it will work to computer cause...

There might be a few issues here:

1. Your ipod software needs to be updated
2. Your usb cord is bad
3. Your usb port is not working properly

Either find someone that has a firewire port and update it via itunes, or use someone elses computer to update your ipod's software.

How to charge a new ipod nano?

Put the power adapter in the ipod nano and plug the other end into the power socket in the wall. If you don't have a charger, plug it into your computer like you would when you sync it, and it will charge.

Ipod nano 2nd gen will not charge or do anything. Does not have the do not disconnect sign on it when plugged into the computer.

if you have itunes on the computer then there should be no problem unless your computers driver is shot. so i would get a wall charger, from a local **** smith or somewhere, and see if it will charge off the wall. if so then there should be no problem, and if then it does not charge it is proof that your ipod is shot, so perhaps its time to get a new one. please rate
