Cleaning cycle My Z5 has worked well for years. I have run many cleaning cycles in the past, but this time the machine is stuck at the "Add Tablet" message. I have added the tablet to the ground coffee funnel but it cannot sense the tablet and will not proceed to the next step, "Press Button." I have tried dropping a 2nd tablet, opening and closing the main lid and ground coffee funnel lid multiple times, and probing both the ground coffee funnel and the small hole next to the funnel in an attempt to trigger a sensor but no luck. How does the machine know when I have dropped in a tablet? Should I try to get the tablets back out and start over?

The flap of the funnel has a piece of plastic that sticks out, which pushes on a microswitch under the top cover.. If the funnel is not seated correctly, it will not work the microswitch.. This will also apply if you try to use it with ground coffee.
There are 2 switches side by side, the other is for the bean hopper cover.
I suppose you could insert a small stick into the hole, and press towards the front of the machine.. it should have a distinctive click to it. if it works, then either the plastic piece on the ground coffee cover is broken, or the funnel is not seated correctly.. if it doesnt work, you need a new switch fitting.

    The sensor on my machine had gunk on it, not sure from where. Tooth or oral pick, paperclip or small screwdriver and a dab of alcohol swished around in the slot, and we're "clickin" again. Thanks!!

Your water system is clogged with minerals. Try decac first. If that doesn't work you will have to have a pro manualy search for the blockage. www.hotncold.com

It could be several soutions to this problem. First of all, try to clean the sieve in the brew unit, it may be clogged. Take out the tray, in between the 2 brown "lips" inside you can put your finger up and clean out all the old coffeegrounds stuck up there. Then put everything back in place and run a Rinse machine operation.

If this is not helping, listen out when you start up the machine; You should hear that the valve is turning 3 times, if it doesn`t it can be a problem with this valve not opening in right position. Then all the water would go out in the tray, and not into the brew unit. That maybe can be solved by changing this Multi ceramic valve or the Main Electronic board. Then it`s a job for a sertified Jura technician.

I had a similar problem, and solved it by turning the grinder by hand against resistance. Apparently the grinder wasn't really turning during the cycle and needed to be cleared. If your beans are "hopping" this may be a different problem.

My Jura z6 doesn't recognize that a cleaning tablet has been added and will not complete clean cycle. i think i put too much powdered coffee in it. how do i get it out?

The middle switch Under the door you lift is probably stuck this comes from the Coffee going over into the slot I've had two of them and they both done the same thing. It's a poor design you can use a metal pick to move the switch so it recognizes the doors open then you can drop in your cleaning tablet I called the service they said to use a toothpick however that can break inside the machine it did for me this is not a permanent fix but at least get you into the cleaning cycle the paper towel trick doesn't do anything For the switch

Where do you add a tablet to the Jura Impressa Z5

Decalsifying tablets are diluted in the water. Cleaning tablet is added in the Ground coffee area.

My Meile G2243 SCU that had been running fine for a year has started leaving black residue particles sticking to the drinking glasses on top shelf. Have used dishmatic cleaner a few times but problem...

some have used vinegar and water and others have used bleach and water and run the unit on its hotest cycle the black residue is do to a soap build up mixed with the type of water that you have myself I used to do the vinegar or bleach method but have found a product sold at home depots around the world called AFFRESH basicly you just add a tablet and turn the unit on its hotest setting and i know what your probably saying no tablet can clean it all but it does for heavier build up in customers houses I have ran two cycles with this product one after the other and then they use the product once every three months after wards and it keeps this from ever happening again they make this product for dishwashers and frontload washers heck i have even used it to disinfect a fish smelled dishwasher mind you the fish was dead well over a week ex tenant thing in a customers house give it a try I havent met anyone yet that hasnt sworn by this product in the past 3 years that i have been using it. if your not able to obtain this product once again a strong vinegar and water or bleach and water solution will work if you have any further questions message me back and please rememeber to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations in the future Thanks again Rick

Empty tray message afyter the tray has been emptied

We had similar problem on our Z5. It turned out to be the two prongs at the end of the tray that were shorted out with dirty water. After carefully cleaning the whole contact area of the tray, the message was cleared. I would also inspect the machine itself where the prongs go in. Use a flashlight to ensure there is nothing causing the tray to misalign with the contacts. Somtimes used grounds gets stuck there and lifts the tray a bit.

Stuck in cleaning mode?

Open the preground coffee lid, drop a cleaning tablet in it, let it do it's tablet cleaning cycle. After cycle empty water out of tray and clean.

Impressa E8: even though I did clean machine, it asks me again...

Make sure your water tank to fill, when you start the clean process, and the tray is empty and wiped down. Then add a 500ml container under the spout rather than let the water go into the tray.
Also if you have not serviced the machine for about 5,000 cups this can occur.

Jura Capresso C3000 keeps saying clean unit

We have the S8 here at our office. Ran the cleaning cycle and "Clean Now" message was still on and beeping afterwards. Read the Feb 28 comment and carefully cleaned everything that had grounds stuck to it. Ran the cycle again and it worked. Thanks all.
