Front loader LG washer drawer for detergent is stuck won't open

Suspect one of the containers for the detergent or bleach is propped up and keeping the drawer from coming out-I would like to access the drawer, but it is unclear to me what to remove from the outside of the machine to get where the drawer to get it unstuck-any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

Remove the top of the washer by removing the 2 retaining screws (phillips head) from the back of the unit & sliding the washer top back about 2" & pulling up. You will see a white detergent dispenser box with several hoses coming off the back in the left front of the unit (this box contains the detergent drawer). The lid to this box is held on by 8 pressure snap clips. You only need to release the 4 snap clips (3 large, 1 small at the rear) on the right side of the box (nearest the washer drum). Pull up on the right side of the lid while pulling out on the detergent drawer. It should come out normally. Do not reassemble until you read below, then reverse the steps to put the washer back together.

The problem will be the "softener" lid (blue). It will not be sitting down in the drawer assembly & will catch on the lid of the white detergent dispenser box. Simply remove the blue lid to avoid future jambs. It only serves to identify the fabric softener recepticle & it keeps fabric softener from splashing around when water enters the system. You may need to remove the entire detergent drawer periodically to clean (push down on the blue thumb indent inside the drawer to release it from the housing).

Hope this keeps you from drilling through the lid & ruining a $23 part, like I did.

Found no need to remove the blue softener cover, beveled the front edge of it with a file and no more catching.

When you remove the softener lid, that part of the tray no longer fuctions. The lid creates a siphon so that all of the softener goes in.

I have a LG WM2277HW and all of a sudden after a wash we couldn't open the detergent tray anymore. I ended up prying the drawer open and broke the blue top of the Softener tray. I bought another tray off eBay and slid it in. SAME PROBLEM!!! I found this thread on fixya and the fix by lisa_1128 was the Golden Ticket! I took the top metal lid off then only had to pop the 3 tabs on the right side of the detergent assembly to remove the tray. I guess just popping the tabs creates enough clearance for the tray to slide out. Then I used the info. from the fix by Doug Rozman and filed down the front edge of the blue top on the Softener tray, works like a charm!

I too have experienced sticking. I removed the detergent drawer by pressing down on the drawer lock in the center of the drawer. I was able to access the blue lid to the fabric softner and remove it. No more sticking. thanks.

Is there a way to do this without removing the top of the washer? I have a dryer stacked on top of the washer?
Thanks

The soap drawer won't open. Never had this issue before.

Is the machine a front loader? Is the drawer on the front of the machine? What is the Brand? I have a Samsung front loader and my detergent/bleach & softner drawer pulls out from the front. There are two drawer release locks on the drawer track (one on each side) if the drawer will give you any wiggle try pulling or pushing up gently. This may unlock the track. It sounds like the drawer was pushed in too hard... hope this helps

I have owned our washer for seven years Why doesn't the bleach dispenser empty?

is it a front loader or top loader? what is the model number? normally you have 3 or more water inlet valves 1 for cold water, 1 for hot water and one for either fabric softener and or bleach, id say (without any specific info) that it is simply a jammed/faulty water inlet valve, or if its a front loader you often get this problem if the water pressure isn't high enough to create the siphon in the dispenser, i dont know why they set up the softener dispenser on front loaders as a siphon when the pre and main wash just wash through normally

Which compartment does my detergent/fabric softener go in?

You can get all of Whirlpools user guides here:
http://www.whirlpool.co.uk/app.cnt/whr/en_GB/pageid/pgsrvifuhome001/ifu/home Generally the one one the left - is for pre-wash (if clothes really soiled), the middle one is for powder (if you use it) and the last one is for softener or bleach.
I just use liquitabs - which go directly into the drum, and fabric softender.

Where do i out the laundry detergent, when there are two sections

Look closer at drawer that comes out. The labels for pre-wash and wash are under the lip on my LG. Stand to the side and look towards your hand that opened the detergent drawer.

Detergent drawer will not open

Here's a possible solution: Remove the two screws on the bottom side of the plastic clips on the back of the washer (leaving the clips attached to the washer's top), then use the palms of your hands to sharply push the top back about an inch and a half and lift the top off the machine. Now, if you can see enough through the translucent plastic to tell where the hang up is, you can drill a small hole in the top of it to allow you to push that part down so the drawer will open. Then, use foil duct tape to seal the hole.

Kenmore washer smells/mildew on rubber

The smell problem is actually because of the softener....its nassssty stuff it coats the interior of the washer and forms a grease like residue. I would use Washer Magic (available at all appliance parts retailers) (only half the container in front loaders) and a hot wash. Also keep spraying the boot with bleach and water soluiton every few hours it will dissappear after awhile. please rate my help

Opening the top of front load LG washer

to get your lid of the washer there are 2/3 screws at the back right under the lip of the lid once you have taken the lid of u will see the top of the soap drawer u can sometimes get into these by undoing the clips on either side of the soap drawer if u cant do it that way only other way is to make sure your soap drawer is closed properly and hit it hard at the front it should dislodge more than likely your conditioner drawer
