Question about Casio Exilim EX-Z77 Digital Camera
When the battery is loaded in the battery charger the red light flashes and never stops. The battery will not charge.
It's a known Fault with the NP-20 battery don't order one and pay for it, ring or e-mail casio customer service they should send you one out for free!! When you receive the new one don't let it die, make sure and keep it partially charged at all time or the charger won't recognize it. Really casio should recall this battery but for some reason they insist on replacing faulty batteries with more faulty batteries!??!

After having the same red light flashing problem with my battery charger, I found this sight and thought ringing casio would be the best option; unfortunatley we needed the camera on the weekend and customer service was not available, so after thinking about the battery & charger not recognising each other i thought that maybe wiggling the battery whilst in the charging position might get enough charge to make them compatable again. Hey presto it worked, heres what to do, place battery in charging position red light flashing then keeping contacts end in lift battery to 45 degrees, this should give you a continuous red light charge, I held it for about 45 seconds, then put back into normal charging position and red light should stay on!! I wont let battery run down again but saves the hassle of casio on hold music!!

I did the same thing as Hartwe1l, although I didn't tilt it up so high. I just held the battery tight against the contacts and lifted it a little bit, got a steady red light, held it there for a minute, and presto...continuous red light. I'm assuming it's charging...so far, so good! Thanks hartwe1l.

You need a new battery.
I ordered a new charger thinking THAT was the problem. When I put the battery in...the charger still had the blinking light. Imagine my frustration - I'd wasted $55 on a new charger, only to find that it was really the battery that needed to be replaced.
If you go to the Casio site, you'll be able to order a new one for $29.99, I believe. The shipping and handling comes out to $8-ish, and the taxes will be $4-ish. I hope that helps!

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: Battery will not charge
Here is how you fix the problem (without using a 9V battery method...).
The battery doesn't charge because it's been fully discharged.
What you do is you put the camera into the cradle. Now you see that the Red LED comes on solid for a while. It's charging for a few seconds. Then it starts blinking. When it does that - TAKE THE CAMERA OUT of the cradle.
Now put the camera back and repeat. Do this six or eight times. Each time what's happening is that the battery is getting a tiny bit of charge. After 8 times the LED will come on red and stay solid red.
Bingo, no problem!
