Try a reset to this set, and check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). inverter boards needs replacing both master and slave

I come across this every day with LCD Tvs.What it is, is dust between the layers of the LCD. When dust particles settle behind the front layer of the LCD, and the LCD is pressed i.e when cleaned, the layers can be pushed together, resulting in a shadowy streak. If the LCD is stripped and cleaned it will be ok.

Just posted about this - ours was exactly the same. Had it returned from the Philips repair specialist yday - cost £190. not a cheap fix.
