WS-55315 with only red bulb

A friend who was moving just gave me their WS-55315 rear projection tv from . When I got it home, I found out why. Only RED works. When I take off the back, I can see that there is not even a dim glow on either the green or blue bulbs. Is this common? Is it an easy fix? (4 bad caps? ;) ) Thanks, Troy

It seems that you donot have the 200+ V line for the GREEN,BLUE. This line is the same as the read line, check connectors located on crt boards make sure they did not come apart. Also you can:This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. Shutdown at power with self diagnosis error 2-2. Check for open fuses F9A04 and F9A05 part # 283P144080 on the +24 and -24 volt lines. If the fuses are open the convergence output circuit would be suspect. 2. Shutdown at power with self diagnosis error 2-1. At power on check for 12-volts DC at connector KH pin 8, if missing check IC9C51 part # 270P990010 and L9C52 part # 441D009020 on the Signal PCB

Hi
Check the componet cables if you are using them for video from the cable box, the red may of came loose. Also you could have intermittent connection the video processor IC or as we techs call it the jungle IC. It is responsible for producing all the small singals used by the set.Tapping with the handle of a screwdriver on the signal board may lead you

Hi my tv is the ws-55315 and i turn the tv on the light comes on for a second(the power light) and the tv shuts off is that the bulb i dont know?and how do i fix it

WHEN the power light goes off on front of set, press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

Power light will blink an error code: most common is 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and it will repeat code several times.

This is self check and will narrow down what is wrong with your set.

Let me know what code you find and I will tell you what it means.

Ws-55315, screen turned to fuzz

If it was the lamp there should be nothing. press the menu button if the menu does not come up the issue is with the tv. If the menu does come up try a second source a dvd player or game system. If the issue is only with the original source than the original source needs to be replaced.

Protector glass on a mitsubishi 55in hdtv 1080 #ws-55315

I have the same tv and I took my clear shield off and never put it back on.  The picture is much better without it as it will reflect light and objects in the room making it difficult to see the pic clearly.  I was told by a service tech that the primary purpose of the glass or shield is to prevent damage to the screen from objects, water etc.  If you have no small children in the home you can enjoy a better pic.
