Hello Bill, i understand your problem, but i think what you will have to do mate is either go to Garmin's website and order a new one as i dont think they would sell the broken item seperately, or go to a local shop that sells Gps equipment and maybe they can help you.

SOURCE: GolfLogix GPS Receiver: I have a golflogix 8 and I can not get beyond the ...

The cable can be a pain. It has to be slid all the way down to the very bottom of the socket on the gps, even when its tight, it might not be connected all the way. I usually wiggle it left and right while pushing it down.

If your light comes on, but the lcd is blank, the lcd is fried. Check ebay, there was someone selling a fix the lcd service, or call golflogix if you are still under warranty (even if you arent, i got mine replaced for 125. not too bad considering i paid 300 for it originally.

SOURCE: half of lcd doesn't work

there is not, the lcd is hardwired to the mother board, so not replaceable. Give them a call to see if you are still under warranty.

1970 Chevy c20 3/4 ton with a 350 and a manual transmission, points distributor

How stock is ignition and charging system?

Assuming stock ignition, check for near battery voltage (within 3 volts or better) at the positive side of the ignition coil while the ignition switch is in the run position.

If no power at coil positive then likely a fuse has blown or other open circuit... miswire or open ignition coil resistor wire.

If power at coil positive, check for power at coil negative. If near battery voltage at coil negative then points are open and you should get spark at ignition coil secondary by flashing the coil negative with a jumper wire to ground.

Comment for further assistance.

1986 Buick Century Wagon, 2.8L. HEI with separate coil. Car won't start. If I leave the key in the ON position, the coil smokes and burns up. Could this be something in the distributor? A short?

The hot coil is what happens if you plut a battery across it for more than a few minutes.
Replace the damaged coil and check for a spark. If no spark, check the points gap and condeser.
Never leave the ignition on for more than a minute without the engine running, it damages the coil!

Olympus ws500m wont charge to computer

It's not supposed to. The WS-500m uses standard AA batteries, either disposables or rechargeables. If you want to use rechargeables, you must charge them outside the recorder using a separate battery charger.

Spring broke on my garmin gps 8 how do i repair it

You will need a 60/40 solder and you will have to take it apart it will probley not be waterproof but if it is not in waranty it will not matter. mine broke all the way to the circuit board and it has a spring that is soldered directly to the board but it works now! IMO very sorry design for a waterproof rugged unit! The guy at Golf Logic agreed the battery compartment could of been made better! I am looking for a design with a snap out battery compartment rechargeable of course!

How to remove battery in 1992 Toyota Corona so it can be recharged

(1) Loosen screw on negative ( - ) terminal clamp, lift negative cable off terminal, and put cable end somewhere where it can't touch the battery. This stops the positive terminal from being "live" with respect to the rest of the car.

(2) Lift plastic cover from positive ( + ) terminal. Loosen screw on positive terminal clamp, while making sure your screwdriver is nowhere near the negative terminal at all times. Lift positive cable off terminal, and put cable end somewhere where it can't touch the battery.

(3) Loosen the butterfly nuts over the clamp that holds the battery to the tray. One butterfly nut will have to come off completely, the other can stay on so you don't lose the clamp down the middle of the engine. Swing the clamp off to one side.

(4) Lift the battery out of the tray, keeping it upright at all times.

To reinstall the battery, follow the above steps in reverse order.

Braun Toothbrush repair?

Hi,
I've just opened up and remounted my Braun toothbrush, an Oral-B model I think.
Your description corresponds.
Order for re-mounting:
Coil, rubber/soft washer, hard washer, spring, ...
The spring has no electrical use: I think it is just used to keep pressure on the washer and improve seal-ness.
The coil has 2 electrical ends, which connect to each (narrow) sides of the small PCB. One of the connections happens to touch the battery holder.

I wanted to replace the battery, but gave up as the battery seems so hard to remove: I don't see how to replace it without destroying everything.
Also, the format is larger than an AA.
Any idea?
