PSP Orange light when charging but battery wont charge

Its a 1001 model fat psp. I have replaced the battery, the charging cord, and ried multiple outlets. The orange light turns on when i plug it in to charge, however after several hours when i turn it on it says the battery has very little to no life left, and after 2-3 minutes of total on time it shuts off showing the battery empty screen as it does.

It also does not turn on while plugged in, with or without the battery in. I know it is supposed to, but it does not.

Your Battery may have developed dead cells and is no longer capable of charging.

Replace battery with new one

Testimonial: "I have replaced the battery, as stated in the question. That is why I am here looking for a potential solution, I am betting it has something to do with it not running while plugged in and no battery. "

SOURCE: psp 2006 battery

You don't have a problem; the seller is an idiot. Leave it plugged in for good measure, but your PSP is fine.

Many products ship with a completely discharged battery (many cellphones, for instance) and they must charge for a long time. PSPs don't; they ship with a partially charged battery.

SOURCE: psp wont charge, no usb. battery empty after last game.

believe it or not, if the psp works you can play it with out a battery using thee charger. Try that and see if it works at all. If it does then you may need to replace your battery, or leav it and let it charge for about 5-6 hours.

If it's 4 months old and it does not work at all you should still be under your manufacturer's warranty.

SOURCE: I have a PSP that I charged overnight and a orange

Remove the battery.
Plug the PSP charger into the PSP.
Turn it on.

The PSP works with no battery inside.
If you're not getting a green light at all, your PSP has some sort of damaged as it should work while plugged in with no battery inside.

How would l charge my psp 1001 using my usb. thanks

PSP automatically charge itself when you connect the USB cable from the PSP to your computers USB port you should see the power light change from green to orange that is a sign of a charging state and if that did not happen connect the PSP on a different USB port on your computer because sometimes some USB port supplies less amount of power.

I have my psp plugged in to the power cord for over a day, still not charged and it wont turn on at all. why ?? please help!!!

Probably, either the battery or the charger is busted. Try borrowing a friend's PSP charger and plug it in. The power led of the PSP should turn orange when charging. If it still does not charge, you might need to replace the battery.

Psp carge light wont come on and psp wont turn on

You either have a bad battery, or a bad power supply that charges the unit (power cord). If you have a friend that also has a PSP, try swapping out the battery to see if that works, and or try another power cord to see if the charging indicator light comes on. I think that possibly your battery is dead and the power cord might be bad. You can find good deals for both the battery and cord on ebay. Good luck!

I am not able to start my PSP 3000 I am using a usb cord to charge the PSP, I am getting the hold light however not getting the power on please assist

When you connect the PSP via the USB, does the orange light power on? If you are using the standard USB cable and attached to the top of the PSP, from experience, it needs at least to have a little amount of battery power. If not, it will not totally power on or charge. You need the A/C adapter to charge the battery pack.

I can charge my PSP through USB cable even if its powered off. I'm using this one:
