I've recently moved a Z1300 printer from one computer on my network to another. I added the drivers from the CD installed the printer. I says its "ready". It is set as my default printer. I try to run a test print and I receive the "Not communicating with computer...enable bidirectional support...." I go to enable it and low and behold it is greyed out! I say to myself lets try and reinstall the driver! So I uninstall the current and reinstall the driver from the lexmark site.......no go. So I contact lexmark on there "Live Chat" which I found pretty cool, well at least until they actually told me to go speak with my PC vendor......that kinda ticked me off a bi....anywho I am sitting here scratching my head since I have no clue where to go. There has been a number of minor troubleshooting done on my part. (turned off firewall, turned off virus protections, turned off that vista user account control thing, tried running it as administrator, tried a different USB port, ensured that I had the correct driver installed, I can't think of what else I tried off the top of my head.) I would really appreciate it if someone could throw me a bone here......
SOURCE: Lexmark X2500 is giving Bidirectional communication error message
Make sure that the "Enable Bidirectional Support" checkbox is checked: Go to "Control Panel"->Printers->Right click on the print Object->Properties under "Ports" tab, enable this check box if not already enabled. If you using vista make sure you do this from an "Admin" account, you may also need to select the "Run as Administrator" option after you right click on the "PrintObject".

I came up with a work around solution and for $9.99 I'll tell youo how I did it......

Click on Apply and OK.
It's done.
SOURCE: My Lexmark x5495 will not print. I get the message
Go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > right click on the Lexmark 5400 Series print object > Properties > Lexmark 5400 Series Properties window pops up, click on Ports tab > place a check mark in Enable bidirectional support by clicking in the box beside it. Hit Apply and click Ok to save the settings. Try to print. If problem persists, disconnect the printer usb cable from computer, uninstall the software completely by clicking on Windows logo Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 5400 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. To reinstalI, I recommend you use the software you can download from the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/cgn74X. Download and install the software. Follow the instructions. Try to print again. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.
