Pyramid PS-14KX problem

I was using my pyramid for 10 minutes yesterday when it went into protection mode. Now when I turn it on and the green normal lights up, but the minute I plug something in and draw current, it will go into protection mode again. I put my hand on the two 3055's and they are not hot. I took the cover off and there is no burning or smell. the minute i unplug from the unit it will go back to normal, then when I turn the unit off, the green normal light stays on for 3 to 4 seconds and then fades. Any suggestions? I also tested with my amp meter on several areas and it seems to be getting power through them where I tested.

Green and red light are on my pyramid amp and its not working

It could be even simpler than that, yes an improper impedance rating on an amp will cause it to overheat, but should function temporarily until it reaches peak temp. If the outputs were blown the protect light should not light up being that they would need to work to cause the protect light to come on. I would double check all of your connections, one small little crossed wire would cause an amp to immediately go into a protect mode.

Generally, the fuse only blows when the rectifiers fail. In other Pyramid supplies, they use a square, 4 terminal bridge rectifier. They probably use the same thing in your supply.

PS36K power supply overload problem

Most of Pyramid's supplies are based on the LM723 voltage regulator. The DATASHEET should tell you most of what you'll need to know to repair it. THIS is the schematic diagram.

If the output voltage drives the voltmeter to the end of the scale, it likely has one or more shorted power transistors.
