Quick disclaimer - I am not mechanically/electronically or repair inclined. Add to that I have little to no common sense. SO, with that said - please feel free to help where you can. The E41 code plagues me. Getting NO action at all and the PAU signal comes on with every try we make. The "door lock" light is not coming on at all. We ran the diagnostic and everything seems to check out except the E41 and door lock light. The last time this happened, we replaced the door assembly and got "almost perfect" results (it still made a sound with the door sometimes (almost like a buzzer but not quite) so we would just push the door a little and it would stop. The washer worked OK for another 6 months...you know, long enough to be out of parts warranty. This time, I assumed it was the control panel. I checked the PTC (red box on the back of the door assembly?) and got roughly 1300-1400 ohms (assuming I did it right). I checked the J2 connectors but got quite confused on the OOO or 1 ratings. I think that is what I got though because it would climb and then go to 000. Put the new control panel in. Same problem (E41/PAU). Checked the door strike - seems to work just fine. Reset the machine by unplugging for hours. No change. Put a surge protector in the wall just in case and tried the washer plugged through there and NO change. The only other thing I can think of is the wiring between the two infernal parts. Any thoughts? Should I try to replace the door assembly again? The door switch...just in case...or the whole wiring assembly? What else could it be? I appreciate any insights...preferably before I throw this heffer out the window. Thank you so much!
Hi Kimberly - If you are receiving an error code E41, it typically indicates that the loading door may be ajar. Double-check to ensure that it is securely closing. If it is secure, and since the unit was unplug for several hours, but the issue continues, then the door switch assembly or your unit's main control board is generally the primary issue. I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the washer to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

I fixed this myself and it only took about 5 minutes. The problem is the door latch needs to be reset, which requires unplugging it's three electrical connections. This has to be done inside the washer outer seal, but it is easy to get to. First remove the outer ring that holds the seal on. Next remove only the side of the seal closest to the door latch (again only the outer seal needs to be undone). With this done remove the two screws holding the door latch in place (inside). Remove the latch, unplug the three connectors, plug them back in then reassemble everything. When all is back in place hit "cancel" and it should be good to go.

Hello
& Welcome to FixYa E41
error indicates that the problem is with door lock assembly, it is displayed
when the control board thinks that the door switch is open. To solve this
problem you have to remove the door lock assembly and measure the resistance of
the PTC. If it reads open then the door lock assembly needs replacement
however, if the reading is around 1500 ohms then replacing the control board is
recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions. Kevin
I appreciate your post, Josh Orenstein!
From my understanding your Frigidaire washer is displaying "PAU" and "E41". "PAU" normally displays when there is an interruption to the cycle and "E41" means the main control board thinks the door switch is open. Either code can display due to a faulty door latch assembly, door strike, or main control board. You can attempt to perform a factory reset by holding down the Start/Pause button and Select button until a signal sounds. Also review the door latch and strike to see if there is any visible damage that could cause a short within the components. If there is no visible damage you may want to consult with a technician for proper diagnosis and repair of your washer. Hope this information is helpful to some degree. -Matt

Thank you Chris for the information! I did check the door and it was closed all the way. I called a repair person per your suggestion. (Thank you again!) He took about 2 glances at it and listened to the equivalent of background posted above and said to replace the machine. : ( He said that it's likely the motor control board. He said he's been working in the business for 15 years and that the door lock assembly shouldn't be bad again after 6 months and the main control was replaced so the only thing left was the motor control board. I also asked him about the wiring and all of the J2 mumbo jumbo and he poo-poo'd that pretty fast. So...I guess we are replacing it. I can't help but wonder if I should at least try the new wiring for J2 first. How can I tell if that's even worth my time? Any info is appreciated! Thank you again!
