Help in installing XP on cq45-106au instead of vista

Hi,

I have brought a compaq presario cq45-106au notebook and i am very much frustrated with its speed. I desperately want to downgrade it to xp from the current vista. i will be very much thankful if anyone will be able to help me out of this problem and also please give me the links to download all the drivers which are required for the above mentioned purpose.

If you go to www.pc-authority.com you can find the download for xp. to do it you will have to format the harddisk during xp instalation but it will delete everything, alternativly you could run your labtopon highperformance but it will compermise you batteries working time

HP Compaq Presario 700 series was originally designed for XP and Vista, therefore you can install XP on it.

After installing Windows XP, you will need to install all drivers.

I m not able to install win xp sp2 on my compaq notebook
windows xp cant detect ur hdd bcoz its SATA hdd.
Solutions:

1. Install vista instead of XP
2. You need to disable this SATA feature in BIOS to install OS.

SATA disable steps.

1. Restart the computer and start tapping F10 key.
2. Choose System Configuration tab.
3. Disable SATA native support.
4. Save and Exit the BIOS by pressing F10 key

Need Windows XP Driver's For My Laptop
Hi,

There are several versions of the Presario C700. Pls try here and select one appropriate ti what you have. Thereafter, clicking on the exact model number would open a new page with drivers for several Operating System, pls select Windows XP. If there are no specific drivers, download and install the HP Software Update.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Yeah I dont think they are allowed to make xp drivers even if they wanted to. Try getting all the information about your computer as you can, video card, audio card, nic, ect. Then download separate drivers for everything. If things dont work out just go back to vista or linux, (fedora, ubuntu, kubuntu, red hat, ect.) linux is better anyways and its just fun to use.
