Vertical line running through video channels 1-4

Sony has a white vertical line running down screen on video channels (ports) 1-4. Video port 5-7 shows no line. Cable television is viewed on 5 with no problem.

  • beckybc127 Aug 24, 2007

We interchanged the video channels as directed. Played a video and it worked very well for 10 minutes, then the lines started in again. We removed the cable television cable and problem still continued. Any other suggestions? We appreciate very much your help.

Interchange the video channels 1-4 and 5-7. Now check white vertical line in video port 5-7. Suppose you get problem remove cable television cable from tv during another two port running. These type problem occurs only when RF disturbance from cable television or video ochannel ports cable wire ground problem. I found there is no problem in tv. External source only the problem. I hope above details give you the better solution.

Screen is white with black vertical lines upon booting up. I can't get beyond this screen.

The video card (built-in on the motherboard) maybe faulty or the LCD screen is faulty.
Connect an external monitor to the video port of your laptop, power up the monitor first then boot up your laptop. If the video card id OK then the laptop will automatically divert the video to the external monitor. Then the problem is a faulty LCD screen.
If the external monitor also displays black vertical lines then you have a faulty video card and since it is part of the motherboard it is impossible to fix.

How can i play ps2 on lcd without having a black and white screen ? how can i connect the cables ?.....when i look at the back of my lcd i find three ports (red white yellow) when i use them the screen is...

1) The set of input (Yellow= Composite video, Red= Right channel audio, White= Left channel audio). This set of input is for composite video.

2) The set of input (Red= Red video signal, Green= Green video signal + sync, Blue= Blue signal, Red= Right channel audio, White = Left channel audio (the Red and White will be grouped close together). This set of input is used for Component video for HD signal.

You should try using composite video source (Yellow RCA jack) from DVD player and feed to the monitor and see if it works OK with all color showing that way we acn find out if it is the video source problem or the monitor video signal processing problem. Try the PS2 on the TV if it works OK also.

I have a trutech tv model number plv1615 t I cannot find the manual I want to use it with my video player. Can you help

I'm assuming you have hooked up the video player and tried, and haven't got it to work? If so, Run the video cords to the correct places, i.e. yellow (video) to yellow port (front/back); white and red are sound, insert each to their corresponding places as well. Next, turn the tv on, as well as the video player, (dvd/vhs/etc) - next, if you have a remote use it to access the menu - then scroll through the list (usually with the volume up/down button, channel up/down buttons, or there will be arrow keys to use). Find in the menu the selection to choose which video port to use i.e., video 1, video 2, or AV, which is more commonly used - AV is usually the ports on the front side for tv's like this. If you do not have a remote, to access the menu (if not "menu" button is available on the front of tv) try using the channel up/down buttons on the tv, by pressing them both at the same time - also, using the channel up/down, or volume up/down buttons to scroll through the menu - to select, there will either be a "select" or "enter" button, or as one set of up/down buttons are used for scrolling, the other two up/down are used for selecting. Once you have determined the uses, find the channel selection, and try AV first. You may be able to find it easier first by simply flipping through the channels on the tv until it appears on the screen usually in the upper right hand corner in big letters -- AV. This will be the channel to use for video - if not, there is one other way to make this work - if the tv and video player have a co-axle port (cable cord connection) then use a co-axle cable. Plug it in to the back of the video player, and then the back of the tv. Select Channel three/four ( some video players have a switch on the back, so make sure they are both on the same channel). Most commonly used is channel 3.

I have 5 strips of redish lines on my screen. Do I need a new graphics card? My computer is a Dell xps.

This could be but I suspect that you monitor is needing service.
1. To isolate connect a known good LCD to the pc graphics card ( the ATI RADEON)
If the lines are not visible then yes a new video card is needed.
2. check the video cable to see if you have it well connected to the video port.
this sometime will render intermittent screen and vertical color lines.
3. check video cable for bent pins.
I hope this helps. Have great day!

How do i set up my old playstation 1???

Hi,

Connect the cables to the ports on the back of the PlayStation console marked "audio out" and "video out." Make sure to match the same-coloucoloured plugs on the cables and the ports - yellow to yellow, red to red, white to white.

Connect the other ends of the audio/video cables to the ports on the back of the television or VCR marked "audio/video input.

Connect the AC power cord to the PlayStation game console and plug it into a wall socket for power.

Turn on the television, VCR (if included in the connection) and PlayStation console.

Press a button on the remote control to access the audio/video inputs for your television or VCR. The button will be labeled "video," "aux," "auxiliary," "tuner" or "line TV/video." You may need to set your television or VCR to channel 00, 90, 91 or 92. If the remote control does not have the buttons described here, check the product's instruction manual.

Regards.

Why can i only see the top 1/5 of my screen on my dell inspiron laptop? the bottom 4/5 is white with many light green/blue vertical lines. computer seems to be working fine - i can see my screen saver...

A few things you could do to test out this issue.. is if you gave a desktop, try hooking up the screen from the desktop to the port on the laptop and seeing if it looks the same..

If it does look the same, then the issue is with your video card..

If the desktop screen looks normal, then the issue is with your laptops screen and it will need to be replaced

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Hi mikenstacy

Try to connect a normal desktop monitor to the laptop (there will be one vga port where you can connect the monitor) and if you see those lines on external monitor as well then most probably video card has gone bad (you can try to reinstall video drivers in this case) if those lilnes are not there on external monitor then problem is with your LCD so if system is in warranty then get it replaced other wise get in touch with local compter shop and get it replaced.

let me know if this helped
