You do not say which version of Windows you are using or the version of Internet Explorer so here is a general idea to fix.

If you are running XP or Vista download the new version IE8 and install it. Here is the link:

"Access Violation (0Xc0000005 exception)" is a known problem with Internet Explorer 6.
When you try to open a web page in Internet Explorer 6 that has an opening HTML tag "<SPAN>" without a closing "</SPAN>" tag, this error can appear and render Internet Explorer nonfunctional.
Microsoft provides a hotfix to update versions of Internet Explorer 6 affected by this problem.

Visit the Microsoft Hotfix Request page for this error (see Below).
http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=832823&kbln=en-us
Check the box next to "Internet Explorer 6.0."

Enter your email address in both boxes.
Microsoft will email the hotfix to this address, so be sure it is a valid email that you can access from the computer at which you are experiencing the error.

Type the letters you see in the box.
This confirms you are a human and not an automated bot.

Click "Request Hotfix."
Check your email for a message from Microsoft.
Click the download link in that email.
Save the .EXE download to your computer.
Double-click on the downloaded .EXE file when the download completes.
Follow the onscreen wizard instructions to complete the hotfix installation process.

Can anybody help me figure out why I get the below message and how I can fix it? Thank-you Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR...

Internet Explorer 7 cannot display a particular element on a Web page on that Web site.

Workaround 2 loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); You can turn off friendly HTTP error messages in Internet Explorer. This workaround still lets the error message appear. However, Internet Explorer does not move away from the page after the error occurs. This workaround works only for Internet Explorer 6.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Show friendly HTTP error messages check box under the Browsing section, and then click OK.
  3. Close the browser.

Sometimes when I click on the Internet Explorer icon, and error message appears in front of a blank web page. The error message says "Internet Explorer has stopped working. Click to close program". When...

Try a scan with your virus scan, then with a malware scanner, i use Malwarebytes.
I would then use CCleaner, use the registry cleaner also.
This will clean out all your temp files, and remove any registry errors that may be causing IE from starting properly.
You could also use Firefox, or chrome as your browser if this does not fix it

Assert in lsp g_socket_data.lookup

Sounds like a program error in internet explorer. Simplest way to fix this is use a new browser. Go to google and type "Download google chrome". Its safer, faster, and in the URL bar you can type any combination of words or letters and it automatically starts a google search- very handy if you ask me. Hope it works for you!

"Can't find a certificate to log on to wireless network"

If you are getting certificate error message when pulling up a website, check on your date and time set on the computer. Make sure it is correct. If it is and you still are getting the same error, try resetting the internet explorer settings. Do this:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on Tools->Internet Options.
  3. Go to the Advanded Tab.
  4. In the bottom right hand corner there is a box that says Reset. A dialog box will appear, click on Reset.
  5. Close then restart Internet Explorer.
