11 year old Kenmore washer fills then stops.

Although the washer stops, the timer dial continues through each stage till the end. I can hear it ticking quietly. There is no other noise or movement. I have replaced the lid switch but this changed nothing - (this model agitator normally works with the lid up - it only stops if lid lifted during spin). I checked the agitator dogs - they are ok.

The problem is solved! I was continuing troubleshooting and when I looked at the timer I noticed that one of the connector plugs was not set in properly. I managed to reset it and the washer now works properly. So it was the lid switch after all. What happened was that by lifting off the top panel to replace the lid switch, the timer connection got pulled out a little. I didn't find this until now - a week later. But at least I learned all about my washing machine....

In the machine under the front control panel will be a module that controls the wash agitation. Have it checked out as they fail . There is no connection between the timer and this unit as it comes in to play when the water reaches a set level. The timer just keeps working through the cycles believing the washer is agitating.

SOURCE: Won't spin, makes clunking noise, drains fine

If it agitates fine , with normal noise , drains with lid closed , then the problem is probably the transmission .

Kenmore washer - water won't drain. It stops

If the water drains between the wash and rinse cycles, your motor and pump are probably OK. If this is a machine with a dial, try a different cycle, like normal instead of heavy duty. If that works and the machine completes the entire cycle then the timer probably has a bad spot. You might try to find a replacement timer if that is the case although I didn't have any luck with my 10 year old washing machine. Best of luck

Kenmore washer quit working

it may be waiting for a faulty heater to kick in. try it on a cold water wash, no heat and see if it continues the full wash. if it does not then it may have a faulty timer.

Kenmore front-load washer stops at rinse cycle

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it.
Good luck!

Kenmore Elite Washer

seems the timer knob is old and need of replacement normally happens due to age as the timer switches inside the timer knob become old and sticky mostly unable to move so the timer isnt able to do much of its job

My kenmore washer fills up but then just stops

it could be several things, something is lodged in pump, so the motor wont run, the motor is bad, or you have a bad transmission.

Start with the pump and see if it has sock or something stuck in it.

Kenmore 80 series washer

Your transmission is not engaging thats why the speed changes your making will sometimes get it to work.Honestly any machine after the 10 year age mark is not worth the cost of replacing the transmission.

Washer stops suddenly and water isn't drained out

Hi tieuvodanh; Sounds like the timer has gone out. If you can advance the selector dial manualy, and the machine continues to operate as it should, then this is the problem. Replacing the timer will require some advanced knowledge of washers and the ability to use a box of hand tools. A good handy man will be able to repair this for you.
