Hi i have a sony trinitron model KV-34HS510 and last wednesday it was working fine before i went to bed. when i woke up the next morning i went to bathroom got a drink and went into the living room to turn on tv. when i turned the tv on it made the sound of the tv actually turning on but it didn't turn on to show a picture or sound and it blinks red anywhere from 5 to 7 times(because each time its unplugged and plugged back in it blinks a different amount of times. like 1 time it will blink 5 and the next it will blink 6 and etc.) i unplugged tv for a few hours and then plugged it back in and tried pushing the memory stick on the remote along with the power and it turned on and was working. and every night before i go to bed i had to unplug it to have it turn on in the am. when i woke up this morning i tried it and it won't turn on at all. makes the sounds and it blinks but won't give a picture or sound. not sure whats wrong with the tv. if anyone could narrow the problem down and how much it would cost to fix would be great. thanks in advanced.

KV-32HS510 and KV-27HS420, seven times blink error code shows problem in Horizontal deflection circuit.
There are many possibilities like dry solder joints, weak capacitors, Horizontal transistor short or flyback transformer fried etc.
If you have little experience of TV repair and good solder skills and have necessary tools to test / check defective parts, then you can make it. you also need to have related service manual to see board location, schematics and part numbers.

I had the same problem on the 57inch model of this TV set. Thankfully, it has been fixed at a reasonable cost! The fault was definitely caused by the IC's (two identical ones on the D board). They are marked MCZ3001DA. The replacement part (upgrade) is MCZ3001DB. I bought a number of them online (cheapest I found was about $25 per pair, and cheaper per IC if you buy more) and had an experienced TV repairman replaced for $100 (he originally "diagnosed" the cause - just by confirming the 10 blinks frequency I told him before he first visited). I guess he had seen this issue a lot before. He had it up and running within 45mins. It has been working fine since (4 days now). I am very pleased with the outcome so far. Hope this helps.

Replace IC6501 & IC8002 [ MCZ3001D ] on D board.
If you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can solder parts in circuit board then replace above said ICs or call local TV tech to do the job.
