Line one red light constant - voicemail locked up

After retreiving voicemail and/or changing our greeting, one of the lines gets locked up and is constatly red as if theline is in use.

  • lori563 Mar 25, 2009

Hi - this makes sense that this is how it got this way, but I cannot unlock the first line. I only get dead air and the red light will not go out, even if the phone has been unplugged from the jack.

Sounds like your picking up the handset then pressing the voice mail key, thereby transferring the line to voice mail when you hang up. try pressing the voice mail key before you pick up the hand set.

Since the voice mail has control of the line, you might try cycling off the phone system to release the line.

Our school has a Siemens 500 OptiPoint 500 advance phone that has a greeting one. Can't find out in any of the manuals as to how I can go about changing it. Can anyone out there help me?

We always programme the voicemail to 555. If you have something different change what is below, which is our 'one sheet' user guide from www.dschiltern.co.uk

All Types of Phones

1. Your mailbox number will be the same as your extension number.

2. Default password is 1 2 3 4

3. Voicemail group number is 555 (unless programmed differently)

Before callers can leave voicemail messages you must activate your mailbox and record your greeting message. We would suggest something along the lines of

"You are through to the voicemail of . . . . I am sorry I am unable to take your call at the moment but please leave a message after the tone and I shall get back to you "

To Record Your Greeting Message

1. Dial the voicemail group number (usually 555)

2. Enter your password (default is 1234)

3. Keep pressing 3 to scroll to greeting messages

4. Press 8 to toggle between your two greeting messages

5. Press 0 to change the message and follow the instructions.

To leave voicemail just press 'Release' or hang up.

Responding to Voicemail

On a display phone you will see "You have messages" on the top line and "Display messages?" on the bottom line. Press tick twice to go to voicemail and then enter your password.

On Siemens 'Entry' phone or display phones with a 'voicemail' button, just press this button and enter password when asked.

On ordinary analogue phones you will get broken dial tone. Dial the voicemail group number (usually 555) and enter password.

In all cases you will then be able to listen to your messages.

To delete a message press 0. It will ask you to confirm by pressing 0 again.

How do I setup my voicemail to my KXDT333 on a SECOND line (with a different voicemail if possible)?

Hello,

Dial your extension. Wait for the greeting to say that you are at your voice mailbox. This is also the "Quick Voice Mail Tutorial Set Up."

Follow the instructions provided in the tutorial. You will be asked to enter your name (or company name), password and greeting. Write down the password and keep it in a safe place.
Record other greetings, if needed. After the tutorial, you have an option to add different messages for different situations. Press "311" to change your general greeting. Use "312" to record a message for when the line is busy. Dial "315" to record a temporary greeting for when you are away for an extended period of time, such as vacation.

In addition, visit this link below and read the information on page 9. I think it will be of help.

How do i retreive voicemail

Pressing and holding your #1 button should take you to your voicemail directly. You can also call your voicemail from a land line phone and when you hear your greeting you can interupt it by pressing # (or could be *, I always get confused) and then it will propt you to enter in your passcode, which should be the last 4 digits of your number unless it's been changed. If the #1 button does not work, call your service provider and ask them to assist with programming your "Retrival number" Have them test and make sure that you can access the voicemail before they end the call to ensure they have fixed the problem. Hope this helped.

No issue, just a question. Looking at RCA 25425RE1 4 line business phone system. If all four lines are busy , will the caller of the 5th call get a busy signal or does the phone have "busy no answer...

ANY phone system will have this problem.

If 5 people call in, the first 4 will be answered, but the 5th will get busy, as there are no lines available into your phones voicemail system.

IF, you have voicemail through the phone company, you can get their voicemail feature for extra.

THEN, if 5 people call in, the first 4 go to the phones, and the fifth gets the voicemail greeting.

It would be dependant on the line provider how many calls their voicemail would handle at one time. SO if 500 people call in, 4 get through, and MAYBE 5 go to voicemail, the rest get busy.....
