Removing Door Panels on Sub Zero 532

I have a Sub Zero 532 side by side refrigerator. It has the alluminum handles that go down the whole length.
I want to remove the white panels that it currently has and have stainless ones made. I need instructions on how to remove the panels.
I know I need to take the handles off but want directions on how to do that without breaking anything!

Thanks for any info.

Hi, there is a metal strip that runs down the middle of each door the entire lenth. It is held on with two magnets. Once you pull that strip of metal off, you will see five screws that hold the door handle on. Remove thos five screws and the entire handle comes free. Slide out the panel and replace the handle, screws and metal strip ion reverse order. Take your time removing the magnetic metal strip as it is a very soft metal and could possibly bend or kink up on you.

Hope this helps. I'm having some trouble locating any company that makes stainless stell to match the appliances. All of the metal companies say the appliance manufaturers have a propriety type of lock on the appliance metal finishes. I also have the 532 model.

Good Luck

How do remove the wood panels from a sub-zero 561 refrigerator

When you open the door, you will see screws holding the handle in place. It would be best to have an extra set of hands to support the handle as you remove the screws. Once all the screws are out then the handle will come off and the panel will slide out. Sometimes you will need to remove the top trim as well.

The door handle on my sub zero 650 has come off.

Hi,

On Few Models, To remove the existing handle have a look for clipped on covers hiding the screws. On others, With a small flat blade screw driver stick between the handle and the door trim on top and push it up and on the bottom push it down and you can access the screws in the handles and tighten.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Sub-Zero 532 (About 18 years old)

First do the simple things like cleaning the condensor coils and turning the defrost timer a few times, also check the evaporator motor or just listen to the fan by opening the freezer door. Also check the light switch, make sure it turns the light off every time you close the door.
