19" proview LCD monitor light and signal

Ok, I have had a combination of almost all the poblems listed under Proview 900w. I have a green/blue screen(fixable by wiggling the optical cable), backlight turning off after 5-10 seconds(when you turn it off, the screen is briefly displayed, but very dark) with the blue light on(someone said this was caused by overheating, probably right, started after I accidentally left my desk light on for a while and one screen side got hot) and now it simply says no signal, even though the optical cable is plugged in.
Any help? even a tip how to get it to stay on long enough to fix backlight settings would be great!

I have a proview 900w and it comes on but only for a couple seconds then the backlights turn off. Does anyone know how this might be fixed?

check your signal cable from your computer or the port itself. one of those might have a problem causing the monitor to go off.

thanks

I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!!! PROVIEW 19" MONITER.

Does the led on front of the monitor stay blue or does it become amber ?
If it becomes amber, then you are not getting a signal.
No harm in trying this : You can try to see if it is a contact problem.
With the monitor unplugged.
Use a small paper clip to run in and out of the blue vga plug holes a few times each to make sure they are not plugged or gummed up.
If that doesn't help and you know that your video cord is good, then I am afraid to say that more than likely there is a problem with yor video card.

If it stays blue then the signal is there but the screen isn't fully lighting up, leading to a failing power-inverter board or a bad bulb.

Same problem, and solution 1 given here fixed my Proview 900W. A few of the 470uF caps on the power board were oozing dielectric probably due to overheating. Hopefully the replacements will hang in there for a couple more years...
