Manual I can't switch to line 2. Both incoming lines are ok, but I can't select the line 2 by pressing the button "line 2", and the corresponding light will not illuminates. I think that it is probably a mechanical failure, but I could not open the phone for service. Can I find a service manual?

What could cause norstar m7208 phone to not receive incoming calls

If you have lines appearing on your phone and they don't ring you need to program lines to ring. This type of programming is done from a M7310 phone. Page 323 of this manual shows how to program this on a NorthStar MICS Ver 6 phone system.
http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/TELECOM-F-R/Nortel%20MICS%20System%20Installer%20Guide%206.1.pdf

Enter the programming mode : Feature **266344
Password:266344
You will have 4 programming buttons on your phone, normally the 2 top left and 2 top right of the 2 vertical rows.
top left = move up one level
lower left = back
top right = select
lower right = next
once you enter the programming mode press next to "Terminals and Sets"
press select
enter your extension number
press select
press next to "Line Access"
press select
press next to "Line Assignment"
press select
use the next key to go to the line you want and use the soft-key below the display to change it from "Appear" to "Appear and Ring"

Cannot receive a FAX but can send FAX on a HP Photosmart C7180 All-in-One

are you using the same line for fax and phone???
are you using a Telephone Answeing machine or a Voice Mail??
However you can follow the following steps

1. Press the power button to turn off the HP fax product.
2. Wait for 20 seconds, and then press the power button to turn on the HP fax product, and then connect one end of a two-wire telephone cord to the telephone jack and the other end of the cord to the port labeled 1-Line on the back of the HP fax product.
3. Make sure that there is plain white paper in the input tray.
4. Press the Setup button on the product Control Panel.
5. Press the down arrow to select Tools, and then press OK.
6. On the Tools menu, press the down arrow to select "Run Fax Test", and then press OK. The Fax diagnostic test prints.
7. Review the report.
If the test lists faxing issues and solutions, the fax test failed.
Try the steps on the printout to troubleshoot the issue as the report is specific to your product and faxing environment.
Repeat the fax test after fixing the listed faxing issues to make sure the test passes. Try to receive a fax.
Okay, next, we need to make sure that the Auto Answer feature is turned on by following the steps below:
When the Auto Answer feature is on, the HP fax product automatically answers incoming fax calls. When off, the HP fax product does not answer any incoming fax calls.
1. Press the Setup button on the product Control Panel.
2. Press the down arrow to select Basic Fax Setup, and then press OK.
3. On the Basic Fax Setup menu, press the down arrow to select Auto Answer, and then press OK.
4. Press the down arrow to select On, and then press OK.
5. Try to receive a fax.
Since the issue persists, the problem could be due to some conflicting telephone services.
The following telephone company services might block or interfere with incoming faxes:
Distinctive Ring Service: A distinctive ring service, if it is available from the telephone service provider, often resolves this issue.
* Voice mail: It is possible to use the fax in manual receive mode while using a voice mail service. For manual receive mode, turn off auto answer and press "Start Fax Black" or "Start Fax Color" on the control panel before the voice mail picks up the line to start receiving the fax.
* Call waiting: Do not use a call waiting service on the same line connected to the fax machine. The click sound caused by an incoming call can cause the fax to fail.
* Privacy block
* Security screen
* Anonymous call rejection
* Privacy manager
* Any other service that screens or intercepts incoming calls
If any of these services are on the telephone line connected to the HP fax product, contact the telephone service provider for its recommended solution.
After addressing any existing conflicting telephone services, try to receive a fax.
Try contacting telephone people

If the HP fax still cannot receive a fax, change the following steps
1. Press the Setup button on the product Control Panel.
2. Use the down arrow to select Advanced Fax Setup, and then press OK.
3. Use the down arrow to select Error Correction Mode, and then press OK.
4. Use the down arrow key to select Off, and then press OK.
1. Plug the telephone cord directly into the telephone jack and not through any other device.
2. If present, remove any splitters or other devices attached to the line, except for a DSL filter.
3. If the telephone cord is over 3 m (10 ft) long, move the fax closer to the telephone jack, and then use a cord 3 m (10 ft) long or shorter.
4. Connect the other end of the telephone cord directly to the back of the HP fax product into the port labeled 1-Line.
5. If other devices such as, telephone answering machines or computer modems, are attached to the telephone line, remove them. If devices attached to other extensions of the same telephone line are present, remove them for this test.
6. Try to receive a fax.
If removing telephone devices and connections allows the HP fax product to receive faxes, this indicates interference from one or more of the removed devices. Interference can be caused by incompatibility or by using too many other telephone devices at once. Telephone devices can be added back but test after adding each to make sure that they do not start to interfere again.
If the HP fax product still cannot receive a fax after removing other devices, continue with the following steps:
7. If a DSL filter is needed on the telephone line, change the DSL filter and then try to receive a fax. If the HP fax product still cannot receive a fax, proceed to step 8.
8. If a new telephone cord has not been tried, change the telephone cord to a new two-wire telephone cord, and then try to receive a fax again.
Try to receive a fax.
if it does not resolve then perform the following steps

2. Wait for 20 seconds, and then press and hold # and 6 on the product Control Panel.
3. Connect the power cord to the back of the product and then release the buttons when the product turns on.
4. The product resets to factory defaults.
Try to receive a fax.
As a last step, test in another location by following the steps below:
If possible, move the HP fax product to another location with a separate telephone line (another house for instance).
Try to receive a fax at that location, and if you are able to receive faxes from the changed location, then your telephone line should be tested.
If it resolves well and good if it does not then service the printer

Tried to fax a 2 page letter getting on the mach did it in blk /colorand still disconnect get a print out report NG: POOR LINE CONDITION/OUT OF MEMORY how do i fix this

Have a look at these solutions maybe 1 of em will help
This problem could be Phone line problem, or hardware failure or receiver's (the machine of the person whom you are sending the fax) machine problem and so on. First, let's check the line, if you have another Phone line, please dial from the number to your number, also, connect the currently connected line to a receiver and call a Land-line number, if the outgoing or incoming is ok, the proceed forward, otherwise, you telephone operator should check the line.

Sometimes, sending fax to a particular number doesn't work, to make sure, try sending a fax to another number.

If the line which is connected to the machine is extended from another machine such as Receiver, Switch, etc... unplug them and connect the fax machine directly to the Line.

It's also important to adjust the compatibility mode, to do this, follow the steps below:
Press Menu. Press the up or down arrow key to select Fax. Press OK. Press the up or down arrow key to select Miscellaneous. Press OK. Press the up or down arrow key to select Compatibility. Press the left or right arrow key to select Basic (for VoIP). Press OK. Press Stop/Exit.

hope one of em helps,

How do I reprogram the phone to ring when a new call comes in, default to a certain line, and show caller id when a call comes in.

The answer to the Caller ID question:
Depend on the type of system that the phone is connected to. Late model Partner ACS equipment will display Caller ID info between the first and second rings, provided that the telephone line is plugged into a module that supports Caller ID.

The answers for the other 2 questions are taken directly out of the Partner ACS Programming Guide which is available for free download at Avaya's website.

Ther answer to the incoming call line ringing question:
Again, depends on the system. For the Partner ACS:

1) Press FEATURE 00 at extension 10 or 11.
2) Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Line Ringing.

The green lights next to the line or pool buttons show the current Line Ringing settings for all

lines or pools assigned to the extension. (If a line or pool is not assigned to a button, the green

light next to that button is off.) The following ringing options can be shown by the green light

next to the line or pool button:

? Immediate Ring - on steady

? Delayed Ring - flashes slowly
? No Ring - flutters quickly

3) Press the line or pool button until the button light shows the correct setting (the setting for the
currently selected line or pool also appears on the display).
4) Continue programming, or exit programming mode.

Line selection:

For incoming calls, the line selection (hunt sequence) is set by the local service provider). For outgoing calls....again....it depends on the system. For the Partner ACS:

1) Press FEAURE 00, SYSTEM PROG, SYSTEM PROG, CENTRAL PROG at extension 10 or 11.
2) Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Automatic Line Selection.
3) Press **.
4) Press the line, pool, or INTERCOM buttons in the desired order. The valid entries for Automatic
Line Selection
depend upon the type of extension:

? Key Extension: Outside system lines, Left Intercom (the factory setting)

? Pooled Extension: Pool 880 button 1, button 2, Left Intercom, Right Intercom (the factory

setting), Pools 881-883, individual lines

For each button pressed, a display similar to the following appears:

Automatic Line Selection

5) To exit Automatic Line Selection, press **.
6) Press CENTRAL PROG and enter a new extension number, or exit programming mode.

Changing line ringing and line selection are tasks that are normally reserved for the Administrator of the telephone system.
