I am having similar issues to a 2-year old post: http://www.fixya.com/support/t9306176-bosch_shu_runs_even_when I tried the test suggested in the post, and water does drain. My symptoms are similar: a "running" sound, even when the door is open, but when I close it, the cycle never actually does anything, and it never stops.

fault is that there is a leak. the tray at base of dishwasher is full of water which operates a float and turns on drain pump. tilt over 45deg and water will run out and then it will work or remove bottom front panel and mop out (better). then find leak

float switch is in the flood position and the drain pump is running.. there is water under the dishwasher or that switch is stuck up..
SOURCE: Dishwasher motor runs (even with door open), but no Water
I believe the problem is in the electronic board. It is getting a different signal thus not allowing it to run properly. You can have a local service technician for the company look at it but this is probably the cause.

Hi
Kindly check for the following :
Check for hose kinks or food plugging drain hose. Start at the drain port exit.
Check the check valve and drain hose for debris.
Check pump motor for reversing during the pump out make sure the dishwasher is pausing between the wash and drain cycles letting the pump/motor reverse for the drain cycle.
Check pump motor assembly for a drain solenoid, during the pump out make sure the solenoid makes that distinctive "clunk" noise
If you have recently installed a new garbage disposal, check knock-out plug at connection.
Check pump impeller for damage.
Check that the water inlet valve isn't seeping fresh water into the dishwasher when off.
Please contact for any further clarifications.
A Fixya Rating would be appreciated if.
Thanks
Rylee

From your description, I doubt that the problem is door latch is the cause.
The first thing that a modern dishwasher does before it begins to fill with water is run the drain pump. It appears that this DW is not progressing to the next cycle (inlet water) and because the pump runs even when the door is open, I agree that the controller card may have failed.
If possible, inspect all the wire connections (remove main power before you do this) ... if there is a loose connection, the controller could do odd things.
Good Luck! Please report back what you find, OK?
