A digital P&S like the PowerShot A1100S is not exactly the best equipment for moon pics. But, mount the camera on a solid tripod, zoom the lens out as far as it will go, set your ISO to 1600, use spot metering on the moon, and utilize your exposure compensation in 1/3 stops to the fullest each way. Use the self-timer set for 2-seconds to avoid camera movement when you push the shutter button. Good luck!

Canon a1100is camera battery door replacement

Kurt- I have successfully completed a d-i-y battery door replacement on my Canon A1100IS, and I make no claims about being an "expert." My training was watching u-tube videos of guys disassembling digital cameras (other models). Here's how to open the case on the A1100is, which is not really much different than opening the case on most any compact digital camera.
Using a size #0000 phillips screwdriver (Sears sells a set of 6 minis--slotted and phillips--for $10), I removed the nine screws from the side and bottom of the case plus one inside the mini-usb cover and the one inside the battery compartment.
Then, I gently worked the front and rear of the case apart (the top of the case halves have two snap clips that hold them together. Unlike some cameras, the A1100IS does not have any flexible cable straps between its front and rear covers.
With the case halves removed, I then used a tweezers to move the straight end of the hinge spring out of its original place next to the tripod socket. That released spring pressure on the hinge and I could then easily remove the hinge pin with the tweezers.
Then, it's simply a matter of placing the replacement door's hinge/spring combo in the proper location and inserting the hinge pin to hold it there. I purchased a new door from Canon for $8.42 plus shipping). Then, I used the tweezers to position the straight hinge spring end in the slot next to the tripod socket.
The only thing left was to wipe my fingerprints off of the LCD screen and then gently replace the front and rear case halves--snapping the case's top together and then replacing the nine screws.

Canon A1100is. All pics taken with zoom are out of focus. Pics taken at normal are fine.

I got the same problem. Pics with zoom > ~2.5 for distant targets are out of focus. Pics are normal for close targets (~ 2 m). The camera with zoom is a "short sight". Changing setting to 'infinity' could not solve the problem. I did not find solution yet. It seems a hardware problem. Anybody know how to fix?

I have a CanonPower Shot A1100IS and my pictures when printed are coming out with a red tint. My Christmas pics were terrible. I'm not sure why. Canyou help me?

If the pics look fine on your camera and computer screens, then the problem is with the printer. If they have the red tint on the screens, then you may have the white balance set to something other than "auto".

I am thinking of buying a Tasco Telescope Model 46-11437 second-hand and am wondering what the original purchase price may have been and what problems I should know about before I buy.

Originally around $150 new. This is a wide field, low power scope. Good for the moon fair to good for planets and fair for deep sky objects (Orion Nebula and some clusters will be fine) Expect to see Jupiter and its moons but unless it is a perfect night, no detail of Jupiter's clouds. Should see the rings of Saturn also.
The scope comes with Tasco eyepieces, which are close to junk but at least they are in 1.25 in format. You can buy better eyepieces and they will work with any upgraded scopes, if you catch the astronomy bug.
The optics are fair, Tasco is not known for good optics. I would study up on collimating your scope, I guarantee you will have to adjust it.

My phone (Lg Choclate )shuts off when i close it an the cam sucks

That sounds like a problem with either the programming of the phone or something in the circuitry. I'd take it to verizon, they should be able to replace it or diagnose the problem for ya and tell ya how to fix it.

Parts

I ordered mine directly from the Venezia manufacturer website. Be prepared, they are proud of their products. The tray cost me $40.
