It sounds like you might have sticky brakes. In other words you are running your chair with the brakes on, causing them to overheat and thus the burning smell. I have never worked on a chair with a thermal sensor but i know they all have a circuit breaker that would trip whenever the motors are overworked like when going uphill with a user at max weight capacity. The only place where a powerchair has any oil is in the wormgears/gearbox. You can contact Wheelchair and Scooter Repair for any service, just be sure to have make, model and serial number ready. They have tech nationwide.
Sounds like your chair is overheating. Most power wheelchairs have a thermal device that shuts off the chair when it senses an increase in temperature. The leaking fluid is most likely coming out of your gearbox. If the chair is less than a year old everything should be under warranty. Maybe two on the motors I don`t know of any dealers in S. Illinois. Try Googling one. Your batteries are possibly ok. Tell the dealer your "motor/gearbox" is overheating and your batteries are fine. If you go in asking about batteries they will try to sell u some.
