My whirlpool duet is about 1.5 years old. It has been working great until the last few weeks. I have had a burning spell coming from it. Now it won't drain or spin out. Just makes a buzzing noise. The drain spin cycle works.

Thank you I will try that. I shouldn't have said buzz. It is when the washer tries to spin. Sounds like a motor or something

How do I get the bottom kick plate off?

  • vg1087 Mar 27, 2009

Thank you! It works great now! The filter was really gross! Didn't know it was there and hadn't changed it since we got the thing!

I am still having the burning smell when the washer spins out. Any ideas?

You may want to check your pump and see if something might be stuck, you should be able to take bottom kick plate off in front of machine.when you take it off you will see the pump.most have a filter you can unscrew and pull out to see how much junk has collected.the buzzing is usually your pump or doorswitch.

check pump filter, once the filter is out see if you can put your finger inside pump and try turning the pump blades.

3 screws maybe 2 at bottom of kickplate, sits back a little so they may be hard to see,but they are their, once screws are out you can pull kick plate off.

When I have only one item or a very small amount of clothes in washer no matter whether it is set to normal or quick wash, it doesn't spin the clothes dry. I have to try to put it with a bigger load to...

If you just got it I would call the manufacture it comes with a 1 year warranty might be a board or sensor issue there are sensor's that tell how much weight is in there so it knows how fast to spin the drum thats where the power saving features come in.

Whirlpool Imperial Electric Dryer wont heat up

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
