The engine stops after fuel in carbuerator is depleted.

The engine starts right up if you pour a little fuel in the carbuerator and shuts down just as soon as that fuel is depleted. I've lost the owners manual and don't remember where the fuel shut-off switch is. It is stored in the garage when not being used.

This is for a 24'' 5hp, 6 speed Murray Showthrower, Model # 624509X4A. I can't remember where the fuel cut-off switch is located.

Thanks, J. Jones ([email protected])

If you take the fuel line off at the carb and crank the engine, does the pump push fuel out of the line ?

My cub cadet model lt 1018 crank but will not start. battery fully charged . fresh fuel . new carb . new started motor

Hi pepeq5314, has it ever run with the new carbuerator? For now lets assume its fine. Time to check for spark. Remove the spark plug, once it is out reconnect plug wire, ground the plug to engine block by holding the base of the plug to block. Now crank it over and see if it is sparking. If no spark you have ignition problem. If it does have spark, back to the carbuerator. You can put a little fuel directy into cylnder through the spark plug hole and crank it and see if it pops. If it does, you have a fuel problem. Remove the line into carbuerator and make sure you have fuel flowing to it. If you do have fuel flow check adjustments. Hope these tips help.

Hi davefrag1057, has it sit all year with fuel in it? Sounds like the high speed jet is blocked. Or the float is stuck in off position not allowing fuel to flow into carbuerator bowl. Or you may have water or other debri in bowl. I would start by removing the carbuerator bowl, clean it( and watch what comes out of it). I use a clean pan to drain it into so I can see water or other contaminates. Before replacing the bowl check float operation, with the float hanging down and the gas on fuel should be flowing, lift the float to level and flow should stop. Now while the bowl is off lets deal with blocked jet. If you have compressed air blow through it.(its right up through the middle of the float.) Without air remove the jet and run a small wire through it. This should get ya going. Happy New Year! (don't recommend using ether).

I have the Echo 413H model, backpack blower. Blower starts and idles but shuts down when switched to high power mode. Help?

Sounds like a carbuerator adjustment. Turn the low speed adjustment screw counterclockwise 1 guarter turn.(closest to engine block) Turn the high speed out the same (farthest from engine block). You may have to tweak it a little, those adjustments vary. Hope that gets ya going.

Engine stops when decelerating and will only start again when fuel is poured into carbuerator w electronic throttle body

Sounds like oxygen sensor. On a 93 you should have fuel injection, not carburator.I believe sensor on you vehicle is in front of air cleaner. Easy to change.

Lawn tractor lost power while in use engine slowed down

Check for spark, if spark is present, then remove air cleaner and pour some gas down carb. not to much, then keep away while starting. If motor starts and runs then shuts off you have a stuck needle and seat or fuel pump problem. Also check oil level.

Engine will start up then shut down like out of fuel.

Try cleaning out or replacing the IAC - Idle Air Control - valve. You can take it off and clean it out with some carbuerator cleaner, just be careful not to damage any probes on the inside and let it completely dry before reassembling. If that doesn't work, try replacing the fuel filter.

My 2000 Jimmy won't start, I can hear the fuel pump running and then shutting off before I attempt to start the engine. I also hear it running while I attemp to start the engine. The engine won't start...

The pump is working normally the reason it stops before you start the engine is it has built up enough preasure and cuts out. When you turn over the engine it starts up again as the preasure goes down when the carburator open's. The pump only helps the fuel from the tank. It seem's like dirt in your carburator. The reason it wont start after 3 minutes is the excess petrol in the carburator has evaporated hence need to pour more in. Check all pipes filters and carburator for dirt.
